What you'll do

We shall meet at Binkbikes bike shop, from where we shall bike to the dunes. The dunes surrounding The Hague are part of the National Park Hollandse Duinen. We shall have a walk of around 2 - 2.5 hours (8.0 kilometers / 5.0 miles) through this gorgeous landscape. The dunes offer a wide variety of vegetation and wildlife. Our route shall be partly on paved roads but for the greater part on sand. Here and there we need to climb the dunes. During the tour I will tell you about the history of this area as well as its importance both as a defense against the sea and as a source of our drinking water in this area. If we are lucky, we may see some of the larger wildlife roaming around in this area such as Konik horses, Galloway cows, deer and foxes. After we have finished our walk, we shall bike back to the meeting point. Please contact me regarding any questions or in case your desired date is not open in the calendar.

I was born and raised in The Hague and I am already living in the city practically my entire life. I would love to show you the dunes surrounding The Hague which are not only a gorgeous nature area, but also protect us against the sea and are the source of our drinking water. I have visited and enjoyed hospitality in over 100 countries privately or for my work and enjoy meeting people from countries and cultures all around the world. I would like to give you the same warm welcome and wonderful experience that I have so often enjoyed myself.

This walk with Erik through the Wassenaar Dunes was a wonderful experience. The landscape is unique and so beautiful. Spotting wildlife is such fun and when you get rewarded with a big herd of Konik horses, a sheperd with his herd of sheep and a working dog is a cherry on the cake! Erik is a very nice guy and an excellent guide. He has great knowledge of the history of the area, very interesting stories of times gone by. A highly recommended walk.

My hiking tour in The Haugue at The Dunes with Erik was fantastic. Erik is extremely personable, friendly, and genuinely cares about his guests. We had great conversation - which I really appreciated. I arrived late to Haugue Central (I didn't anticipate the train from Amsterdam Central to take almost an hour) and Erik still accommodated me. Even after the tour he drove me around The Haugue and showed me The Royal Palace and other places of interest. He went above and beyond and really made me feel like home.
