Born and raised in Kibera, I am one of the 4 founders of Kibera Creative Arts. I have spent the last 10 years devoted to empowering my community through the arts.
I am both an entrepreneur in social impact businesses and a musician and producer myself. I studied Music Production at Homeboyz Multimedia Talent Academy, vocals at Kenya Music Conservatoire and piano at Kamata Music School. Moreover, I worked in Sanaa Zote Production as the main music producer.
I have also been involved with several organzations such as Kenya Youth Foundation(KYF), TATUA Kenya, Action Network for the Disabled (ANDY) and GreenCard Mtaani among others.

It was a learning experience for me as an African. I understood the similarities between my country, Algeria, and Kenya. You also get to meet very talented people who are empowering their local community to achieve success in creative arts. Highly recommended

Definitely go on this experience! Phillip and his colleagues took me on an incredible tour of their home. Kibera is a very unique neighborhood and a vibrant part of Nairobi most visitors never see. I’m very glad I went. I felt safe and comfortable the entire time.

It felt special and authentic. I wouldn’t be able to discover Kibera like this on my own. KICA is an inspiring initiative and am happy to have contributed to it by booking the tour. Philip is a great host, with warm personality, an infectious smile and passion for his community. If you want an off-the-beaten-track experience in Nairobi, this is it.

A must see during your visit in Nairobi. Philip and Simon were born and raised in Kibera themselves. They know every corner and most people. They are not just having a vision, but they are also living the vision of giving people hope and a perspective for their life based on their skills. I found written on their door “the best way of finding yourself is to lose yourself in Service for others.” For most people it is not easy to imagine how different other peoples life is and the best way to find out is to go and see yourself and talk to the people. What they are doing is also sustainable, their Organisation provides a perspective, space and guidance to people without just taking the money from them and making empty promises like most of the churches around that area. They will also show you the positivity Kibera has and introduce you to many friends. I went alone by myself with them and I felt very safe in every moment. It’s easy to see that people respect them and what they are doing. Thanks a lot for welcoming me with open hearts and minds.

I am blown away by how the Kibera Creative Arts helps to uplift the community; working with the limited resources they have. It was a wonderful tour of Kibera, everyone felt like a big family and was very welcoming. I highly recommend the experience!

This walk was an exceptional experience, mainly due to Philip and his team. Kibera is a slum district, and you will see everything that you may expect to see when visiting a slum. Some sights may even exceed your worse expectations. The walk was heartbreaking, exhausting, and extremely educational. Remarkably, we felt very safe there. It seemed as if we were meeting old friends in the streets and stopping to chat with them in every corner. KICA helps Kibera kids and adolescents do art - be it visual arts, crafts, music, performing, dancing. This way, they raise the sense of self-esteem in kids, help them discover their inner talents, push their possible careers, and keep them away from crime. Be assured that if you book Kibera tour with KICA, you will support a great community of exciting and inspirational people.
