What you'll do
We will gather to sew tiny kimonos for our favorite dolls. I will show you how to make a miniature kimono out of vintage Japanese silk fabrics—which themselves come from older kimonos—using a traditional hand-sewing method. If you're interested, I will also show you how to make an obi, the sash that ties the kimono together. The kimonos we make will be haute-couture, so bring your favorite plush doll and we'll dress it together. I would love to share the precious moments of hand making your own Kimono for your love one.You will also enjoy traditional Japanese dishes from my kitchen for a meal.

I am a certified kimono maker and a strong believer in the Japanese spirit of "Mottainai": not letting anything go to waste. Since I have beautiful heirloom silk fabrics and sewing techniques that are difficult to find outside of Japan, I'd love to pass the richness of both along to you. I also tell you any stories of kimono or patterns of textile. There are so many meanings on them. Also I have a permission to teach how to wear a kimono. I will show you some kimonos which I made. I have a national permission.

Where you'll be
We'll meet at the ticket gate of the Musashi-Seki station on the Seibu Shinjuku line, then walk to my home, which is ten minutes by foot. My place is a typical tiny Japanese apartment and we sew a kimono sitting on a floor. A real Japanese style. Please make sure to be comfortable as we spend long hours.
