I am a local Singaporean and besides being a licensed tour guide, I am also licensed realtor, hence I will be able to explain to you in detail, the ins and outs of the public housing system in Singapore.

Having moved from Chinatown (which was run down and derelict in those days) to public housing, I understand the context and impetus behind the Singapore government's public housing policy.

Ever since the 1960s when public housing in Singapore was earnestly pursued as a key pillar of social development, an entire generation of Singaporeans have progressed from city slums to HDB living. Come hear the story of how a nation was transformed through the provision of quality and affordable housing on a massive scale, a huge undertaking of human endeavour!

Jasmine has been a wonderful host, guiding me around the HDB area. She has expert-level of knowledge about the background of the public housing in Singapore. I’m most thrilled to hear Jasmine’s personal story and learning about different districts and towns which I could continue to explore! I know about Singapore but after the tour I know much more than the usual tourist spots and that gives me a new appreciation of this country! Thank you Jasmine!

This was truly a fantastic ‘experience’. Communication with Jasmine was friendly and professional and when we finally met her in person she was so welcoming. We met at an MRT station and our first stop was coffee and a Singapore toast set breakfast. This was included in the price. She also provides a bottle of water and some tissues each as a bonus. Jasmine explained the outline of the tour and answered any other questions we had about anything to do with Singapore. Then we set off for the HDB Hub. It was a fantastic journey through the history, architecture and social impact that the public housing has had in Singapore. Throughout, Jasmine was informative, funny and patient with us and our questions. Do yourself a favor and book this tour. It’ll really open your eyes to a side of Singapore you may have taken for granted so far.

A fascinating insight into the everyday lives of Singaporeans and how the public housing system works. After meeting at the MRT Jasmine took me for a traditional breakfast and we talked about her Singaporean upbringing and what the tour would cover. The HDB hub is so interesting - such transparency and a system that allows people to understand every step of the journey. Jasmine has a personal and in-depth knowledge and it’s her insights that add that extra dimension rather than just visiting the hub alone. We also visited the Toa Payoh town centre and saw the different eras of public housing. Would highly recommend, I learnt so much and Jasmine gave me some tips on places to eat and things to see once I’d left the tour.

Touring with Jasmine was a unique and fascinating hands-on experience. The public housing model in Singapore is so interesting and I got a chance to see how the country has built the system as well as how Singaporeans go about securing housing. I had already been in Singapore for a week when I took this tour so I had a sense of some of the social supports in Singapore already. Jasmine brought her personal experience and expertise to the forefront and it was a very cool and different experience.

Thanks jasmine, it was a great experience, let me know the daily life of singaporeans, and the thoughts of the government. From 50 people sharing one bathroom to "three-bedroom paradise", we finally had coffee, tasted fresh eggs, very interesting culture, recommended by five stars.
