What you'll do

Platys River is one of the two roots of Diarizos River. The area north of the famous Tzelefos Medieval Bridge until Milikouri Village is known as the Platys River Valley and is considered as one of the most magical places to see across the whole island as it is an area with rich vegetation within the deep Paphos Forest.

Start: Tzelefos Bridge (440m altitute)
Distance to Milikouri (800m altitute): 14km (2km asfalt), (10km dirt road)
Overall distance: 28km
Duration: 4 hours (biking time 2.5 hours)-total time may vary depending on group

Before we start you will receive full instructions on how to use your e-bike as well as general safety instructions.

We will ride our e-bikes to Milikouri village and back. The route to Milikouri climbs from 440 to 800m. That's not a problem for the e-bikes! They make the climb easy and pleasant, giving the opportunity to recreational cyclists and less physically active individuals, to enjoy the natural beauty and the view of this unknown part of Cyprus which would have been almost impossible to do with regular bikes.
Arriving at Milikouri, one of the most remoted and isolated villages in the heart of Paphos Forest, everything is so peacefull and quiet that you have the sense that time stopped and you are in the middle of nowhere! We will make a break here under a big plane tree at a small traditional restaurant at the center of the village.

I am the founder of RECHARGED e-mountain bike rentals and tours located in the beautiful Omodos village. I studied Sports Science in Greece for four years and then I moved to Liverpool, UK for one more year where I was awarded the MSc. Sports Physiology degree. Since then I traveled a lot and I did a lot of different jobs in my life. I worked as a Cyprus Airways cabin crew member for 5 years, as an Exercise Physiologist at the Cyprus Sports Research Centre (ΚΑΕΚ), as a Physical condition trainer at football academies – U15, and as a lifeguard. All those years I had a constant appreciation for nature and I was involved in outdoor sports such as kitesurfing, snowboarding, skateboarding and mountain biking. I want to promote the physical and mental benefits of interacting with nature through a sport.

A visit to Cyprus without seeing this area is a MISS. Where the company is located in Omodos is spectacular with an amazing amount of new wineries and stunning elevated views. The small historic village serves up a wonderful offseason visit with only 1 busload joining us in the square. Summer may be more challenging. We were lucky to have a bright blue sky and warm springlike temps for our ride. Where you ride is beautifully preserved, quite clean with limited plastic trash...although we visited on the 3 day holiday for Clean Monday...so a few lost kites were seen in the trees. The ride uphill by electric bike is very easy and made challenging by using the combination of gears and electric motor to create your own demanding or not experience. The spectacular running waters create an atmosphere of fresh clean FUN. At the top of the ride, the views through the mountain ridges gives you a sense of the awesomeness of what you just experienced. Spring has sprung in Cyprus so the wildflowers are abundant. The travesty is the jeeps following you up the mountain filled to the brim with people. They should be made to make the trek by bike only to preserve this pristine wild preserve. Please take the time to see this amazing part of Cyprus anytime of year. PS The e bikes make it seem like it is all downhill.

My friend and I just spent an enjoyable few hours with Pambos cycling through a beautiful part of Cyprus - a part that we normally wouldn’t have discovered. Not only was the scenery beautiful, but the food provided was excellent, and Pambos was the perfect guide - friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Don't worry if you think that a long bike ride is not your thing, as the bikes provided have an electric assist - a motor you can turn on whenever the going gets tough, which helps make the experience unforgettable. I highly recommend this excursion.
