What you'll do

We will start with an introduction to honeybees, beekeeping, and honey processing. We will observe the honeybees landing and flying out out of the hives. You will be able to see the equipment used in each phase of beekeeping and honey processing. To ensure all guests can experience the bee yard without worrying too much about stings, we will live stream to an outdoor screen, located in the shade, about 25 feet from the hive entrances. You will observe a hive inspection, and will be able to witness the bees work close-up with our observation hives. We will conclude the bee yard experience with a Q & A session and good conversation.

If you would like to try on a bee suit and take pictures, we will have suits on hand. Please keep in mind, we can only open the hives on warm days when it is not raining.
Other things to note
Fragrances can cause the bees to become agitated. Although not required, wearing a long sleeve shirt, pants, and closed shoes is a good idea. The likelihood of getting stung is low, but possible.

I am Tiffany, the owner of Miss Humble B's Hive and a certified beekeeper. I maintain 12 beehives, although others are added as I catch swarms and split hives at the 2 beeyards. I have been sharing my knowledge of beekeeping at local schools, community events, and with families for over 3 years. Sometimes my bees travel along with me in an observation hive that I built. Visitors to my home and my neighbors have helped to develop this backyard experience over the years and I'm looking forward to your visit!

Brooks has been beekeeping for over 2 years and enjoys the relaxing atmosphere the beeyard provides. He gladly helps to explain to visitors what we observe in the hives and constantly seeks innovative ways to make beekeeping even more fun.

Tiffany is so well informed and passionate about beekeeping. She knows how to translate the complexities of the honey making process to someone that has no idea and leaves you with a super positive experience. A great example of passion and the ability to relate to people.

Tiffany did a great job of explaining beekeeping, making it interesting and fun, and answered all of our questions. You could tell she loved what she did and we thoroughly enjoyed it

Tiffany was incredible. I came into this knowing nothing about bees outside of their color and I feel totally equipped to tell people honey bee facts! She also talked to us about the different stages and let us try some of the honey that the bees we were looking at created. It was openly amazing and I would tell everyone to come try this! 10/10 would go again!

This was a super cool adventure! We took my 8 yo and 4 yo. My daughter now wants to be an Apiarist lol. Tiffany had a tv outside with a presentation and went over facts about bees. She was very engaging and answered all of my daughters 1000 questions. My husband and I learned a lot too! Since we were early in the season we got to watch her start a hive. By far one of the coolest things to see! Everything was outside and distanced. Tiffany wore a mask as we did. She offered us water and gave us honey suckers at the end My daughter loves recounting the stories Tiffany shared when we came back home 😁 Would recommend. Thanks Tiffany !

Tiffany is a very experienced bee keeper. She had showed me her knowledge and experience with bees that I have not heard before. The two hours spent under the tree started with educational video with hives near by. It is followed with watching different frames and cells in live hives. The final honey tasting was memorable. I will be back!
