About your host

I write for a number of Japan focused websites and assist several temples in the Kansai area with their English information as well as working front desk for a historic local ryokan. What we’ll do

For nature and history lovers looking to explore a more rural setting , I'll take you on a tour of some my favourite, lesser known spots around the village of Amami. Each place is rich in story and natural beauty. Where you'll be

The route we will take runs parallel to the ancient Koya Kaido pilgrimage trail. We will then head up into the hills to a small community called Nagaretani and learn some of the history of what used to be a very wild and isolated part of Osaka. If time, we may also detour to Shimanotani, a picturesque village on the other side of the valley. We will then have a traditional Kaiseki lunch and use the hot springs at Amami Onsen Nanten-en.
