What you'll do

On arrival to the farm we will provide you with wellies & give you a brief history of the farm. We will take a tour around the facilities on the farm yard & then take a walk around the land (mainly on farm road way) to see the cows and the young stock. There are some historic sites on our farm such as ring forts, dry stone walls, and old Irish dwellings. If we have time we may take a walk down to the orchard to view (at a distance) the honey bees working. We also give an explanation on the running of a honey bee colony, and explain some the methods and equipment used in harvesting and caring for the honey bees. Once we return to the farm yard we will have a small sample of cheese (our milk is used to make Dubliner cheese & Kerrygold Butter) & a sample of honey (from our own honey bees). A tour usually lasts between 1.5 hours - 2 hours. If you have any questions please ask...We look forward to showing you around the land of Milk & Honey!

Myself & my father John Joe work on our family farm 4km outside Rosscarbery village. Dairy farming has been the main enterprise on the farm for the last 40 years. The farm has won many awards over the years primarily in milk quality and sustainability, with most recent being national winner of Bord Bia Origin Green Awards 2016, and the local Carbery Quality Milk winner 2017. Dad has been working the land here all his life and he is also a bee keeper. There is an apiary situated on the farm amidst an organic apple orchard. I moved home 5 years ago after my studies in Agricultural college. I am also a qualified Architectural Technologist, still practicing part time. We are passionate about our work & love educating people on the origins of their food, with specifics to Irish Dairy Farming, the environment & our heritage.
