What you'll do
Let's visit a pristine hidden waterfall and swimming hole in the mountains! First, we'll meet at the Parque Lázaro Cárdenas (a.k.a. Parque de los Azulejos) in the Zona Romántica of Puerto Vallarta. From there we'll walk to the southbound bus stop and then we'll hike to and through the little riverside town to my uncle's ranch and get saddled up. You'll get to meet the horses Chispa & Shakira as well as the dogs, Lulu and Simba! Once we reach El Eden (one of the shooting locations of the movie "Predator"), we will leave the horses and start the second hike through the mountainside, part of which will be alongside the cliffs above the river. Along the way, you'll learn about the plants and fauna of the area. We'll continue on a little-known trail to the hidden untouched paradise with a beautiful swimming hole, a small waterfall and mind-blowingly enormous boulders. There we'll enjoy a swim in the pristine waters, play with the dogs and eat a light lunch, explore the river and boulders and just relax! After we've enjoyed our stay, we'll pack up and hike back to the horses, then return to Mismaloya and finally Vallarta.
I was born in Puerto Vallarta and raised in California. Beginning at the age of 9, I essentially grew up on horseback and gained a deep love and appreciation for spending time in nature. I'd spend the day alone with my pony, Snapper, and eventually my horse Summer, exploring the local waterways, even swimming together. During that time I became adept at both western and English riding styles. In 2006, I moved back to Vallarta and continued the tradition in Mismaloya with my tío Pedro (who grew up doing the same) and his beautiful horses. Since 2007, I've been bringing friends, family and guests from around the world to learn about and experience the charming culture of Vallarta and the lovely beaches, ocean, jungle, rivers and waterfalls that surround my hometown.
