What you'll do

* Attention: the access to the waterfalls in this sector of the park is currently not allowed for any access by car, bikes or pedestrians through the park road, which is permanently closed. It is only possible to reach the waterfalls by official trails, come with me! * We will do a beautiful hike under the forest canopy and visit amazing waterfalls in the Serra da Carioca (Sector B) of Tijuca National Park. All of them are great for bathing. I will present you more secret and hidden places than you will find in internet guides and tourist sites. I will show you some of the places I like most in the city to relax in this great urban forest (Atlantic Tropical Forest). I will share my knowledge about the forest we will be at, its importance to the city and some of the park's history. In total we will walk around 7km on marked trails (Transcarioca trails, easy to moderate level) in the Atlantic Forest. The route / difficulty of the proposed tour can be adjusted depending on the interest / size of the group but generally there is walking and a little physical effort involved. There are waterfalls within easy reach too, ideal for families - send me a message! 8:00 we meet 8:20 arrival at the trailhead 8:50 first waterfall 9:30 trail to next waterfalls 11:00 second and third waterfalls (beautiful place with sunlight) 12:00 fourth waterfall 12:45 we start our return (2.5km) - there is one more waterfall to refresh ourselves on the way back! 14:00 we exit the park

Where you'll be

We don't need a car for this experience. I will present you several waterfalls located in the "Serra da Carioca" Sector, in the Tijuca National Park. I propose a pleasant hike in the forest, visiting several waterfalls, all great for bathing and we will pass by one drinking water source. Level of effort required is moderate and the last part is more difficult as it requires the use of the hands to hang on some roots. Families visit these places and I shall take guests in safety - which is the most important always.

More tips

I always enjoy taking friends for this hike, which is very pleasant, inside the forest. Some physical effort is necessary for this hike and the last section requires the use of hands. Please bring water to spend the day and insect repellent, plastic bag (for your litter) and perhaps a light towel. Sun protection lotion is not needed.
