What you'll do

Even before you enter the gate the Llamas will be checking you out, the goats will cry out a welcome. When you enter their corral you might be wary of their size, and you will be amazed at their speed as they run around to show off their long strides. After they run for you, we will show you how to hold the llama pellets in your hand as the llamas use their oddly grippy lips to pick up the pellets. The llamas love the pellets and they will take turns visiting each feeder.
Once they have eaten all the pellets, we spread some hay for the llamas to graze on and everything becomes peaceful and silent. You hear the wind in the trees, the call of the quail, the gentle sound of hay being mashed into cud. When you look up you notice you are surrounded by the desert, the Sawtooth and Joshua Tree mountains to the South, the ancient volcanic Black Mesa to the West, and Johnson valley stretching endlessly North.
Throughout this experience your hosts will educate you on all things llama, and snap pictures of you so you can share this magic with friends, family, and followers. Experience last about an hour. NOTE: you must be 18 yrs or older.
Other things to note
There may be up to 6 people participating in a feeding.

My husband, Sam, calls me the Llama Whisperer but in reality it has taken both our efforts over several years to teach these rescued then adopted llamas to trust humans again. Our expertise comes with 1000's of hours learning about our precious Llamas. Following their pack behaviors and working with them based on that knowledge, you could say they trained us.
An artist and Bay Area ex-patriot, I have been reborn as a docent of the desert. I built my own personal oasis rescue ranch, and I am a certified Coachella Valley Master Gardener. Breath taking views and a wealth of native flora and fauna are the art I cultivate now. I love my desert home, garden and animals, and my greatest joy is helping others see, know, and enjoy the desert and all her glory. NOTE: you must be 18 yrs or older.

The trip to Melissa’s farm was amazing. She had several llamas and goats that we were able to pet and feed. The animals varied in age so you were able to get a feel for the different temperament of each animal but all were super friendly. She had a vast knowledge of the animals and was very commutative on relaying the information. Personally for me, the best part was pulling up to the farm as we were greeted by two pugs and two frenchies that she owns. I’m a pug owner so I relished the opportunity to see a pug, she even let us pet them as well. I highly recommend if you’re ever in the area to try the experience!

If you love animals or looking for a unique and memorable experience I highly recommend booking this!! Melissa was so friendly and informative, a pleasure to be around. The lamas were very sweet animals, not only that, we also were able to meet her goats and I’m half- convinced i want one now. It’s not at all like a petting zoo, the time you spend with these animals you come to learn their personalities and appreciate them. We are able to feed and pet the animals and even just watching them over the backdrop of the beautiful view in Melissa’s yard was a joy. You can really tell Melissa loves her animals and I’m happy we got to share the experience. A bonus was that she provided us with hot cider, snacks, water and hand sanitizer. This was definitely one of the highlights of my trip.
