What you'll do
Your PRIVATE 2- hour paddleboard session begins with a brief lesson on land before entering calm water. We travel up the Anahulu river, home of the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles. Sunset is the PRIME TIME to see turtles, since they meander back up river at the end of the day. These gentle giants grace the river, coming up occasionally to say "hi".
You will learn the skills and techniques of stand up paddling as you travel along the calm river. No mosquitos or flies, no currents, just fish, turtles, and lush banks.
Paddle against an awe-striking Hawaiian sunset as the clouds change from pink to purple. You will be stand up paddling at a location known by photographers as ideal for sunset photo taking.
Photos will be taken throughout your session, including with the sunset, and shared directly with your phone at the end of your session.

Other things to note
Your guide is a Red Cross certified lifeguard, with extensive stand up paddle training. Lifejackets are available upon request, and required for non- and weak swimmers. No mosquitoes, flies, or strong current in the river. Since we are paddling in a bay and river, we are rarely affected by waves.

Heidi and Nate are one of the first stand up paddlers on the North Shore, and started "Rainbow Watersports", North Shore's original stand up paddle school, shortly thereafter to share the love of the sport with others. They developed a unique way of teaching stand up paddling to paddlers of all ages and abilities, creating an experience that is both super fun, relaxing, and challenging. They also designed their own line of stand up paddle boards so their paddlers can enjoy stable boards that were not available in the market. Heidi was featured in SUP Magazine as "one of the top 10 instructors for beginning stand up paddlers", and Nate wrote "The Stand Up Paddle Book", the first book on the subject.

Where you'll be
Join us as we travel along the Anahulu River, Haleiwa's "Backyard", considered one of the most beautiful rivers on O'ahu. This was home to a native village that flourished along the riverbank prior to the introduction of westerners. Hawaiian Green Sea turtles and fish swim underneath. You will also paddle across the Waialua Bay, with a view of coral reef below and North Shore's extensive landscape beyond

Our experience with Heidi was unforgettable! For beginner paddle boarders, we were very comfortable on the boards especially because of her awesome tips and lessons to make us basically professionals. Heidi took us down such a populated turtle area and we were lucky enough to see soooo many of these awesome sea creatures. Many of them were actually swimming right next to our boards as we paddled down the river. Heidi also provided us with so much knowledge about the area's different species and facts. It was an overall an amazing experience and I would recommend it 10/10!

Awesome experience, especially for first timer. Melody was my instructor, and she was wonderful- she gave clear instructions about how to paddle and get on/balance/move around on the board, and she pointed out a lot of trees and marine life along the route, giving me many fun facts about them. The route was beautiful, the sea and the sunset were beautiful. I recommend this experience- lovely way to end the day.
