About your host

Since moving to Arizona in 2012 I’ve logged thousands of miles on hiking trails and byways. After hiking to Havasupai Falls in the Grand Canyon, I became obsessed with exploring the many natural wonders of Arizona. Now I love sharing some of my most fascinating discoveries with others. Get a taste of my adventures on my blog at

What we’ll do

I’ll take you on an adventure to search for and photograph real wild horses along the banks of the scenic Lower Salt River east of Mesa, AZ. Along the way, I'll teach you about Arizona’s wild horses and efforts to protect them. In the unlikely event we don't see any horses, you're guaranteed to see jaw-dropping landscapes you never imagined existed in the desert.

What else you should know

Sturdy, closed-toed shoes are recommend. Not suitable for children under the age of 8 or pets.

What I’ll provide

It's the desert, so I'm a huge advocate of staying hydrated.
Entrance fee
No extra charge for the National Forest pass since I have an annual pass.
I'll chauffeur you to our destination in my clean, smoke-free late model Kia Sorento 4-door crossover.
I'll bring a couple pairs of binoculars so you can get a close up view.

What to bring

Camera or smart phone (cell service is limited), close-toed shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.
  • Responsible interactions

All hosts must follow guidelines created with World Animal Protection.

  • Caring expert hosts

Learn from biologists, conservationists, farmers, and more.

  • Diverse animals

Meet over 300 kinds of animals, from alpacas to zebras.

Where you'll be

We'll meet up at the Bass Pro Shops parking lot in Mesa. Or I can pick you up where you're staying for a nominal fee. From there, I'll do the driving so you can enjoy the view.
