What you'll do

Visit galleries that are hard to find.
Leave the heels behind! This is a walking tour! You will find hidden gems the locals love. We start at one of the first Indigenous contemporary galleries; Tandanya walking our way over to North Terrace and visit the Art Gallery of South Australia where I was on the Contemporary Collectors' Committee for many years and hop on the tram towards the West End where I did my Masters in Visual Art. There's a completely different vibe in this precinct with smaller contemporary galleries. I'll take you a working glass studio before seeing the famous Jam Factory where Australia's best artisans' works are available for sale. Art, food and wine go hand in hand in Adelaide so I'll point out some of the best restaurants and bars as we make our way around. Do this trip first so you can plan the best of Adelaide ever! It takes 2.5 hours and I'm happy to make small adjustments based on guests needs.
Other things to note
I'm an easy going Adelaidian with an interesting gallery tour for you!

I'm an artist with a Masters of Visual Art and Studio Practice and this tour explores Adelaide's 'cultural hub': North Terrace. As well as a previous tourism career with international hotels and airlines, I've restored old homes in North Adelaide and have a passion for the art and culture of Adelaide. The Art Gallery of South Australia's contemporary art scene has long been at the centre of my life and I want you to get a head start on Adelaide!
I have lived in Japan, London, New York, Venice and The Hague so I'm a seasoned traveller and understand what it's like to get into a city and find the local vibrancy. I'm also an Airbnb Superhost of a Beach House and an Adelaide town apartment.

To be shown around by a practising artist who studied in the buildings we explored was an honour. Mary Anne adjusted the itinerary to my knowledge base and made me feel involved. Brilliant!

If you are into art at any level then I think at Mary Ann's tour is a must do as an introduction to the Adelaide art world. Mary Ann was not only very knowledgable about the work and galleries she led us to she is also personally connected to the institutions and the city and brings that flavour to her very engaging tour. Do it at the beginning of your visit - we didn't for various reasons which was sad. Thank you.

This was absolutely fantastic. Mary Ann personalized it to my interests and with her art training she was able to tell me so much about the art. It seemed she really cared about you getting a great experience but also had a real passion for art and craft in the city. An amazing person and an amazing tour. She also pointed out lots of cool places to go to on my own. I definitely would not have found some of the places on my own.

Mary Ann took us on a gallery tour customised to our needs and tastes. We got to know the smaller cultural centres in the city. I loved travelling on the tram and finding the university precinct. The shows are less commercially oriented and the quality is high. Her knowledge of the city's bars and restaurants is vast, leaving us well equipped to enjoy our stay in Adelaide. I highly recommend this tour, as an insider's look at the cultural life in the city of Adelaide.
