What you'll do
We'll cook a delicious Indian Curry together & I will show you how to build layers of flavour with every ingredient you throw into a pot. We will also make a delicately spiced rice dish (Pulao) to accompany the curry. Vegetarian & vegan options are available & by the end of the workshop, you would have prepared an amazing meal in your kitchen with guidance from me every step of the way! My menu changes often & features a different spectacular Indian curry every few weeks.
THIS WEEK: a mellow, coastal style coconut based curry
SOUTH-INDIAN CHICKEN / VEG KORMA with CASHEW PULAO
Once you book the experience, you will receive a list of ingredients to prep. The agenda is simple - we chat for a bit, get to know one another & then start cooking. My style is laid-back & folks are free to chat, ask questions & interact as we cook. After cooking, I will also show you how to plate up & shoot that perfect photo for your Instagram / Facebook / Tinder profile. A fun way to spend a birthday / anniversary / special occasion!
This is an excellent team building activity too, perfect for company offsites & corporate team bonding exercises.
- Looking for a date / time slot that isn’t listed?
- Is your group larger than the default listing?
- Want to set up a private session?
- Wondering if penguins have knees?
Send me a message!
NOTES:
- Pricing is per person
- Instagram @madonionslicer
Other things to note
The spices I’ve listed can be found at most grocery stores or purchased online. Just get your ingredients ready before the class and we're good to go!

My name is Dhruv Shanker, but they call me the Mad Onion Slicer. I'm a former professional chef and am dead serious about having fun in the kitchen. I’ve been running a cooking class called the Boring Indian Food Workshop since 2019, and while I personally think it’s pretty awful, the staggering number of folks who gave it 5 stars seem to have enjoyed it. To my utter amazement - I was selected to be one of Airbnb’s top 5 Cooking hosts globally last year!
I’ve been writing a light-hearted food blog for many years now, and teach people how to produce food that’s simple to cook and absolutely delicious. You can look me up on Instagram (@madonionslicer) to see what my food looks like. Everyone who’s tried my recipes has survived to tell the happy tale!

Very highly recommended! The cooking and recipes were great, and Dhruv was a wonderful host, very engaging, natural, putting everyone at ease and making sure we had fun while we cooked! The views of the Singapore skyline at sunrise were an added plus!

We had such a great time making korma curry and cashew pulao (rice) with Dhruv. He was friendly, efficient, and has crafted really thorough and solid recipes. We felt very successful and accomplished at the end, and the recipes we made were absolutely delicious. He was great about suggesting alternatives for people who wanted to personalize the recipe, too. We would absolutely take another class with him!

What a wonderful way to learn a delsih curry while also visiting Singapore. I have a serious wanderlust so I really appreciated seeing the sun rise over the city. The prep was easy and Dhurv is a wonderfully engaging and patient instructor.
