What you'll do
<Please contact with your dates and number of people if it is not available on calendar.> Although a part of Tsukiji has moved in October 2018, it still remains a very important place for both food professionals and foodies like yourself. In this 3+ hour experience, I’ll take you to the Tsukiji outer market and share my insight of Japanese history, food, and cooking with you. My experience is longer than other similar tours so that I can spare more time explaining the background stories and taking questions from you. You get to walk through the stalls and try anything of interest, seeing the actual market and checking out some of the local shops. I'm not tied to any shops and only give you my recommendations . You can stop, buy and try as little or frequent as your wallet/stomach allows it :). By the end of the tour, you will know the answer to these questions. 1) Where do the professionals buy stuff? 2) Is it true that the world's best kitchen knife shop is also the tiniest? 3) Have I tasted real wasabi before? 4) How much does my extra fatty tuna sushi cost? Interested? See you at the tour, then!
As a national certified English speaking guide, I have brought more than 1000 people to Tsukiji Market. I also shop there myself quite often and I’ve learned much about Japanese food and cooking in the process. I have seen many tourists wandering around, thinking it is just about fish and sushi. My aim is to share my knowledge and experience with you so that you can understand that Tsukiji is about much more than that.

Where you'll be
The Tsukiji outer market is full of shops selling ingredients, kitchen utensils, knives, and is well known for its restaurants with some interesting billboards. You’ll see the Namiyoke Shrine, too which also is important part of Tsukiji.

When we’ve finished I can recommend a restaurant if you wish, because I do know that not everyone is into sushi/seafood. You will be surprised to see other options available ;)
