What you'll do
When guests arrive at Maison Du Saïgon, our guests will be introduced with some simple drinks Eastern Europe Herbal tea or specialty coffee and snacks as we are talking about the history of Batik and Pysanky art of dyed eggs. Guests will get familiar with the tools, materials, and the processes of making completed natural dyed eggs. Everyone will have chance to make their own design on the egg using beewax. After that the eggs will be soaked into natural cabbage, beet, turmeric, onion, or coffee to get desired colours. We will show them how to get the wax off the egg. When completing the workshop, everyone will bring home natural dyed eggs and basic knowledge of old traditional fashion way of making dyed eggs.
I am co-founder of Maison Du Saïgon cafe with recycled workshops. I love to show people how to make pysanky Ukrainian Romanian Polish natural dyed eggs using batik technique that is also used in Asia by minority H’mong and other ethnicities. I hope to show people cultural art handwork while having our guests exploring their own creativity.
