What you'll do
If you are in town for a convention or sporting event, looking for the perfect gift for a loved one, visiting friends, live in or close to Indy or are simply looking for an amazing evening, this tour is for you. If you need a different tour time for a bridal party or a family/friend gathering, just let me know. We will find a time! The starting point is a 5 minute scooter ride, a 15 minute walk, or a short Uber ride from the center of the city (Lady Liberty). We’ll wander down Massachusetts Avenue and taste the flavors that make it a top foodie destination in Indianapolis. From the local haunts to hidden gems, you’ll leave with greater understanding of how the capital city food, culture and history all go hand-in-hand. You will sample delicacies from one of a kind (no chains on the avenue) restaurants, as well as a dessert stop or two. You will visit with James Beard quality chefs. You will learn about what makes Indianapolis "45° from ordinary!" We’ll have dishes that are not only inspired by, but ultimately a cross-section of the diverse cultures this incredible city has to offer. From appetizers to sweet confections, we’ll stop, do it all, and leave having had a full meal and then some by the time it's over.
I grew up in the country but have called Indianapolis home for over 20 years. I have lived on the Avenue for 11 of those years. I am an avid long distance hiker (450+ miles at a time), world traveler, elementary/college teacher who loves adventure and good food! I have participated in market and food excursions in Rome, London, Lisbon, Paris, Palermo, Nashville, New Orleans and more. As in any large city, the food offerings in Indianapolis are closely tied to the culture. I have discovered that food tours are an excellent way to learn more about the areas I visit. Those tours have inspired me to do this experience in Indianapolis. It helps that I'm an avid cook and love to entertain. I would like to introduce you to the Massachusetts Avenue Historical District, an area of Indianapolis that is anything but ordinary!
Tour will equal a meal. Please inform of any dietary restrictions. Feel free to ask any questions beforehand.
Water will be provided for everyone. You can purchase additional beverages at any of the stops.

Where you'll be
We will begin at "Ann Dancing," an outdoor art installation in Indy. As we meander down the avenue, you will sample delicious food from as many as 6 different restaurants. You will learn a bit about the history of the Avenue, discover which places are haunted, eat in a converted funeral parlor, learn about a John Dillinger robbery, discover which bar was frequented by Mick Jagger, and end with a full stomach. A seriously good time!
