We will meet outside the famous Petruzzelli theatre in the centre of Bari. From here we will walk through the most beautiful area of Bari to a traditional wine bar where we we sample a glass of wine made in Puglia and some different cheeses, all from the region. Next we will walk down to the sea to the fish market where it will be possible to try a Barese delicacy, raw seafood overlooking the port and old town. From here we will head into the old town walking through the tiny cobbled streets to a famous bakery where we will try some award winning focaccia. Our final stop will be near the castle where we will meet Nuniza who will demonstrate her pasta making skills and then you will sit down in Nuniza's traditional Bari Vecchia family home and eat the big traditional Italian lunch/dinner which will include the fresh pasta you saw being made, meat, wine, coffee and some limoncello!
This tour should give you an insight into most of Puglia's traditional foods and allow you to eat where the locals eat, sampling the best there is to offer! Come hungry!

My name is Georgina I am from London but I have lived in Bari for 4 years and I originally moved here to eat! I also love to help people have a great time in a place I am passionate about. I became famous for knowing where to eat for every occasion so in the end I started an Instagram page (Puglia Plates) detailing the best places in Bari and this has lead me to running food tours. Come and join me on a tasty journey around Bari where we will meet local people, selling and making traditional Puglian food and discover why the south of Italy is the best!

Where you'll be

We will visit a small local wine bar that sells only local wines a produce. We will also visit the fish market on the sea. The next stop is a very old, small bakery nestled in the streets of Bari Vecchia and the final stop is a traditional house in Bari Vecchia where you will meet an Italian nonna making the traditional pasta of Puglia and eat lunch in her own house.

We had a wonderful time on this tour with Georgina, getting to experience many local dishes we would never have thought to try ourselves! Georgina also gave us excellent restaurant and cafe recommendations for the rest of our time here in Bari.

Georgina was a very good host. We went on the tour on our last day in Italy and wished we had done it sooner. We got to know more about Bari itself, and left absolutely stuffed full of delicious wine and food. Georgina was kind and friendly, and knew the area quite well. Overall I'd recommend the experience.
