What you'll do

Begin your experience in the quaint West Barnstable village store. I'll meet you here, you can park your vehicle and purchase refreshments for the day. Then, we will load up in my permitted 4WD for the short drive to Sandy Neck Beach ORV trail.

Hang on while we four-wheel drive out on the beach for fun in the sun and exploring.
Once here we will:
-Paddleboard and snorkel to view sea life

-Swim and wade in the clear cool waters of Cape Cod Bay

When the tides have turned we will pack up the gear and return back to your vehicle. Having enjoyed the Cape in a way few tourists ever get to!

I'm a life long Cape Codder with a passion for outdoor activities. As a high school teacher, I run "Into the Wild," a club that brings students on hikes and boating trips to learn about and enjoy the beauty that surrounds us. My website SecludedCapeCod.com helps visitors and natives find quiet places to explore on our peninsula. Of all those places Sandy Neck Off-Road Vehicle Park is my favorite place to enjoy the ocean, dunes, and woods all in one location.

Where you'll be

We will spend our time on Sandy Neck Beach, a 7-mile long peninsula jutting out between Barnstable Harbor and Cape Cod Bay. To access this wonderful stretch of secluded beach we will need my 4wd vehicle, equipment, and permit. After passing by the crowds of the public area we can drive for as long as 5 miles depending on wildlife nesting. The Bay water is clear and cool with 10 ft tides, amazing sandbars, and tidal pools to explore.

A wonderful trip. We and our 9 and 7 year old boys had a great time paddle boarding, kayaking, going out in Matt’s boat, swimming and 4WDing across the dunes and exploring the marshes and local wildlife with Matt’s expert guidance. Sandy Neck is a special adventure and, whilst it was an overcast day, we enjoyed every minute. Gina, Alex, Rupert and Toby

Matt is very knowledgeable and experienced in many areas. He helped us SUP, snorkel and provided us with some education on the Cape and wildlife. Even with the unpredictable weather, Matt made the experience fun and adventurous!

This is my first trip to Cape cod along with my 15 yrs old daughter. We had a blast today with Matthew. He's very friendly know about the water and good spots for paddleboard and snorkeling. They was another couple in this tour ..we all had a good time . In the beginning take turn for the paddleboard , we had a chance to walk along the water take some nice pictures, swimming just really relaxing and just us . It's feels like our private beach . It's special ,it's fun , it's safe we bring lunch, towel and water .. oh.. I even bring my hot coffee . The whole time Matt was very helpful to getting out and in the boat and did I mention he a good camera man too !! Although today the weather not quite idea ( very windy and some passing shower ) but we still had a lots of fun ! We will do it again next summer !! Thank you !! Matt 💪👍😀

What a beautiful location— dunes, views of the cape’s northern shoreline, and the clearest water. My 12 yo son LOVED it; while snorkeling they picked up a living clam and hermit crab in a snail’s shell (Matt explained how these things operated back at shore). I took the opportunity for a peaceful walk along the shore. We also went paddle boarding, played bocci, and my son tried skim boarding. Matt’s organized and very friendly, and the structure is just the right amount of time and flexibility. In sum, we had a wonderful time. Don’t miss it!!!

I was a little skeptical of paying money to go to a beach on the cape. I mean, it’s literally surrounded by beach. But this was more than worth the price! Matt was really knowledgeable about the area, the geography, the plants and the wildlife, but not in a boring lecture way. The beach was truly beautiful and we had it practically to ourselves. We snorkeled to find animals and shells, Matt explained some cool stuff about the creatures we found, and I got to take a little trip on a paddleboard. The snorkeling was truly a highlight of our entire trip, and the orienting info about the Cape was knowledge we used the rest of our visit. Truly, it was exceptional.
