What you'll do

From Viking soldiers and fearsome fires to artistic kings (and queens!) and title of the happiest people in the world, there are enough stories to tell about the Danes and their history to compete with Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytales (and he wrote over 200!) The common theme: Copenhageners love the water!

For centuries, they have thrived by the seaside, first as a centre of commerce and now a centre of… well… tourism, recreation, you name it! Therefore there's no wonder that on our Copenhagen City Walk, we cover famous Danes, iconic landmarks and blasts from the past by… you guessed it, the water!

We start with the tale of Christiansborg Palace, the seat of the Danish Parliament. Strolling along we’ll reveal the multicoloured townhouses of Nyhavn, once home to fairytale writer Hans Christen Andersen. We'll admire the city’s powerhouses of performing arts and pay a visit to Amalienborg Palace, crossing our fingers that we receive an invitation to afternoon tea with Queen herself.

We’ll finish this story at Kongens Nytorv, next to Nyhavn, where you can join a canal tour in search of Ariel and her friends! (almost a requirement when you’re in Copenhagen)! Or if you want to channel your inner Emperor and look for some new clothes, why not continue along the main pedestrian shopping street Strøget, which begins right here?!

I'm the founder of OURWAY Tours, specialising guided tours within Scandinavia. I started in Stockholm, 2011, as a qualified guide with the question: What do people enjoy when they travel? The answer we found, is to: "Meet the people, try the food, live the stories" and so that's what we do. In 2016 we felt enough guests had asked us if we
did tours anywhere else to make the decision to expand to Oslo & Copenhagen.

Our team of handpicked locals want nothing more than to share their love for the city with you. If you're lucky you'll tour with: Regina, Robin, Silke, Guilia or Joseph.

In short, we give you "people, places, and culture—the local way".

Where you'll be

This is a walk of Copenhagen's city centre including stories of its history, famous Danes, iconic landmarks and blasts from the past. We will make multiple stops throughout the city centre and mix general stops with visits to sites that are often difficult to find or overlooked by visitors. The route of the tour might vary depending on who it's with and what the interest of the guests are.
