What you'll do

Join us for this introduction to the homestead lifestyle! We will start with a short walk around Fun Frolic Farm and see the gardens, along with some native and medicinal plants used on the farm. Next we will visit the barn and meet the dairy goats that provide milk for our soap, lotion and farmstead cheeses, as well as our flock of laying hens and pigs!

You will have the opportunity to ask questions about all of the animals, offer treats to the goats and collect eggs if there are any. We will also discuss animal health and husbandry, feeding and pasture management.

We will finish with a tasting of the weeks cheeses and even though our farm store is currently closed to indoor visitors, you may still sample or purchase some of our farm goods at our smaller outdoor location.

*In effort to support our community in helping slow the spread of coronavirus, we are limiting the group size for our experiences to 6 people. All experiences will be held outdoors and, following cdc guidelines, we will implement social distancing throughout the duration of the experience.

Tucked back into nature from winding roads sits what seems at first glance to be a small farmstead. And it is ...but it is a magical place! A soulful place on the Toe River ( I could have stayed there forever!) ! And so much bigger really because of the way Bill and Christine have used and planned their farmstead. There is no waste. It was amazing to me how much less space anyone would really need to be self sustaining. What I mean is everything had a purpose and the waste of one thing fed another. Of course, we all know this but to watch Christine and hear her level of knowledge and conviction for something she truly loves and willingly and lovingly shares was inspiring to say the least. You don't have to want to live off grid or learn to milk goats to have learned something from the farmstead tour. Christine teaches about sustainability and investing in yourselves. In many ways, what it was really like to be Daniel Boone or a true native american or just a better thoughtful version of ourselves. We learned the process to making goat cheese i.e., which goats are known best for the type of cheese you want to make, milking those goats (SO COOL) and the end product! SO DELICIOUS (on a baguette with fig spread on the ride home!). She showed us local weeds (dandelion) we can batter and bake and many more - we collected these little purple flowers for pink lemonade - ask her about them! She just gave us so much information that I hope I do her justice in the future by trying to use and remember all the great knowledge I tried to absorb. We can't thank you enough Christine for a wonderful experience!! Almost forgot, we were a family of 5 and Christine and Bill were so very accomodating for a group tour on a Monday of all days...we had such a short travel timeline and we were so happy they could work us in. I would definitely recommend this experience for all ages. It was such a wonderful experience.

We loved this experience! The farm was so much fun and we learned a lot. The goats act like dogs and are super friendly. If you have never met a goat before, this is a perfect place to do it! We want to come back in the spring to feed the baby goats. The farm store was great too and the lotion is the best I’ve ever used. I highly recommend this experience!
