What you'll do

Mushroom Workshop - 4 hour nature hike. Walking the trails of a 400 acre conservancy property. Learn to identify Seasonal edibles and mushrooms. Learn to identify specific growth edible mushrooms, spore printing and ethical harvesting. Dependent on the time in calendar we will be looking for and finding Chanterelles ( Yellow, Black trumpet, Cinnabar), Hedgehogs, Boletes, Oysters and my personal favorite - Lobster Mushrooms. This is an intense field practicum. Participants of this workshop will be required to dress appropriate for all weather including tick spray. Bring paper bags, basket, Scissors, snacks and water. All edibles (once identified) will be divided equally between each participant. This is not a mushroom farm and mushrooms picked are uncultivable. Wild edible plants in their natural forest state.

Great experience, we had lots of fun. Good mix of exploring within our group but then also able to branch off and explore on our own a bit as well. Ruthie had so much to share and teach along the way, very informative yet fun the whole way through. Would definitely recommend.

Ruthie is amazing! She does her best to engage with all the people that were in our group and even helps you have a magical time in the forests. If you struggled with spotting mushrooms independently, she would share with you tips and tricks as well as bring you with her to spot them more easily. Ruthie is super knowledgeable, friendly and personable! I would 100% recommend this to anyone looking for an adventure (experienced or new like us).

Ruthie was super informative and shared her time amongst our group fairly. I loved the hike, it was more tiring than I expected. Maybe i would recommend some orange juice or energy boosting snacks to get yourself back out of the forest. We found some wild ginger, lobster mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, chestnut mushrooms, and a few other herbs i cannot remember the names of. It was rainy, wearing my hiking shoes was a huge plus. Hiking boots likely would have been better 🤣 Ruthie is super great. I would recommend this class to anyone.

This is an awesome experience! I learned so much from Ruthie and she is such a kindred spirit. The pace was perfect, a leisurely stroll through a beautiful forest all while searching for mushrooms and other edible plants. I’m really looking forward to more wild edible foraging with her in the future as we will definitely be booking again!

This was an absolutely amazing experience! Ruthie is friendly and knowledgeable and an amazing host. Ruthie ensured we all had a fun time and learned so much about the natural fungi and fauna of the region. Did you know that wild geranium looks and tastes like parsley? I know that now! 100% would recommend this experience to anyone spending time near Kingston
