What you'll do

BIOLUMINESCENCE KAYAK TOUR $95 per person
The Bioluminescence Tour gives us a surreal experience. Living organisms emit light that causes the water to glow and sparkle like a cosmic mirror any motion in the ocean accents this offering, a dance of light as we paddle in darkness.

This kayak tour focuses on safety and fun as we experience the ocean in a unique way that few have had the opportunity to enjoy. The silence opens our senses as we glide through the water almost as if we are flying – a beautiful way to connect with the mysteries and wonders of nature. Watch the ocean floor alive below and around you. The sunlight was fades and silhouettes the BC Coast Mountain range as bats swirled above and heron and other birds head to their roosting spots. Grandmother moon and Venus can add their presence to the stillness and peace as your kayaks glide through the glassy water.

Only a short distance from the Backeddy Resort and Metta Eco Experiences we melt into the night behind the Sutton Islands, away from the lights on shore, we explore our sensory awareness. We encourage you to listen to what you feel with an open heart.

For over 40 years Greg has been connecting people with Nature. He started guiding at 16 years of age as part of his family’s summer camp business near Algonquin Park, Ontario. Beginning as a canoe tripper, this progressed into kayak, horse, hiking and winter expedition guided programs. Greg grew up with boats and is a certified sailor, pilot, skipper, scuba diver, kayaker and climber.

As a qualified facilitator guide with Metta Eco Experiences, Greg helps you to connect to the story of the land by inviting you to look deeper within and to see the energy and magic that surrounds us in the heart of nature.

Greg is passionate and knowledgeable, you will come away deeply moved by his perspective and by the experience itself. The bioluminescence is awe inspiring; kayaking at night surrounded by the vastness of the ocean and mountains, watching the water twinkle and dance... this is truly the experience of a lifetime.

This a really interesting experience and the bioluminescence is magical. I enjoyed the kayaking lesson too, even though I've kayaked a lot before.

Wow! This is a truly magical experience. Greg is an excellent host that made our tour feel like meditation. We picked up some new kayak skills, connected with nature, and learned a lot about our relationship with the ocean. It was lightly raining during our trip, which made the experience even more special!

We had a wonderful time. The tour had 7 people so the group was a bit bigger than I expected but the hosts were able to manage the crew well with clear instructions and patience. I would recommend this tour to anyone that’s visiting Sunshine coastal in the summer.

Definitely a highlight of our Sunshine Coast summer vacay. The two 11 year old girls I took along were blown away by the magic available in nature. Unforgettable. Huge props to Greg & Marielle

My girlfriend and I decided to do this adventure during our one night getaway. Greg was highly knowledgable, passionate, considerate, caring, approachable and highly enthusiastic. We learnt about things ranging from biological facts to spiritual and natural energies. I have never seen so many stars in the sky and the bioluminescent lake was absolutely magical. Thank you!
