What you'll do

Saddle up for a true Western adventure!

Perfect for beginners and pros alike, experience the spectacular scenery of Paradise Valley on this guided horseback trek along the Blue Flower Trail. No worries about directions or navigation; simply follow your guide and you can focus on capturing photos of the striking vistas.

Each of our members has a passion for the outdoors, animals, and wildlife. They will entertain you with facts about the ranch and the surrounding area. With the majestic Absaroka Mountains as your backdrop, learn about the land’s original inhabitants, the Crow tribe, and the local ecosystem. Be sure to bring your binoculars – and camera! – as you may have the unique opportunity to view some of Montana’s natural inhabitants, including mule deer, golden eagles, fox, elk, and more!

We ask that you meet at the Lodge 15 minutes prior to the start of the ride so that you can be given safety instructions. Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Also bring a water bottle and your sense of adventure!

Please note that this trail ride is completely dependent upon weather conditions. In the event that the weather is not suitable for the ride, an Erik’s Ranch staff member will reach out to you to reschedule or refund your tour.

Welcome to Erik’s Ranch & Retreats. A solution that was born out of love.

Our story began in 2008 as Kathryn Nordberg, CEO and founder, searched for options that would provide her son, Erik, a moderately functioning young adult on the autism spectrum, the kind of life he deserves – full of possibility, independence, and purpose. She quickly found that there were few good options. So, in the past few years, Kathryn and a team of professionals have developed this innovative model.

Kathryn's goal for a better life for those with autism is the foundation behind Erik's Ranch & Retreats.

This is a beautiful ranch with friendly people, gentle horses, and an awesome cause. Certainly a highlight of our trip. Thanks for having us!

We loved our little trail ride! My wife and I rode Nala and Dumbledore with our guide Joelle and her horse Beau. It was wonderful! The ride itself is a little anti-climactic- just down a gravel path to another one of their properties and then a small trek up and down a small hill before turning around and going back. However, the horses were wonderful and so was our guide, and the cause is great, so it was an overall good experience. We would definitely come back and recommend it to others.

Great horseback riding through Montana backroads, nice horses, good guides, great facility. Very safe, not much trail riding, most of the way is on paved road.

The trail ride was a lovely experience. I had the pleasure of meeting Carolyn our trail guide and David, a fellow novice rider, Narcie and others. It was just enough for beginners and the guides were engaging, and knowledgeable. David was a guest at the lodge which is beautiful and a perfect place to host a women’s retreat. I love the mission of Erick’s Ranch and will spread the word!

This was one of the best experiences I have ever done. I went on the trail ride with my boyfriend and we had a blast. The ranch was clean and beautiful. We had a great host who I can’t recall the name, but I believe it was Joleen. I grew up around horses and have been around them numerous times. I noticed Dumbledore (the biggest horse) had stiff joints. I was worried for his joint health. Is there anything being done to keep them healthy? Maybe supplements?

We had a great time! The horses were gentle and well-cared for, and our guides did a great job of telling us about our horses, the STUNNING scenery, and the organization. I believe their cap is 5 guests in a group - there were only 2 in ours (me and my wife), and had two guides. It was a much more personal experience than most of the other horseback-riding tours offered in the area. Plus, it supports a fantastic cause. I highly recommend!
