What you'll do

Saddle up for a true Western adventure!

Perfect for beginners and pros alike, experience the spectacular scenery of Paradise Valley on this guided horseback trek along the Blue Flower Trail. No worries about directions or navigation; simply follow your guide and you can focus on capturing photos of the striking vistas.

Each of our members has a passion for the outdoors, animals, and wildlife. They will entertain you with facts about the ranch and the surrounding area. With the majestic Absaroka Mountains as your backdrop, learn about the land’s original inhabitants, the Crow tribe, and the local ecosystem. Be sure to bring your binoculars – and camera! – as you may have the unique opportunity to view some of Montana’s natural inhabitants, including mule deer, golden eagles, fox, elk, and more!

It is the Certified Horsemanship Association’s recommendation that the weight of the rider does not exceed 20% of the weight of the horse. We can accommodate a maximum weight of 200 pounds.

We ask that you meet at the Lodge 15 minutes prior to the start of the ride so that you can be given safety instructions. Please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Also bring a water bottle and your sense of adventure!

Finally, this trail ride is completely dependent upon weather conditions. In the event that the weather is not suitable for the ride, we will reschedule or refund your tour.

Welcome to Erik’s Ranch & Retreats. A solution that was born out of love.

Our story began in 2008 as Kathryn Nordberg, CEO and founder, searched for options that would provide her son, Erik, a moderately functioning young adult on the autism spectrum, the kind of life he deserves – full of possibility, independence, and purpose. She quickly found that there were few good options. So, in the past few years, Kathryn and a team of professionals have developed this innovative model.

Kathryn's goal for a better life for those with autism is the foundation behind Erik's Ranch & Retreats.

This guided ride was relaxing and fun. From the time the barn kittens greeted me to the end of the ride I was in awe of the views and friendly staff!

I’ll never forget this horseback ride. Great hosts/guides, amazing horses, and indescribably beautiful views. For two hours I got to relax and truly meditate while the horse carried me. Would definitely do again.

Fantastic ride with fantastic guides! This isn’t your typical broken horse trail ride. The horses are well cared for and have spunk and life to them. They are also paired very well to each rider. The scenery is magical and the guides share stories about the land, the people and the horses along the way. I would definitely go back!

We loved our horseback riding experience! Miles and Chuck had great stories and we felt like friends afterwards. They had great local knowledge and recommendations. The horses were beautiful, so sweet, and very well taken care of. We loved it! Highly recommend it!

This experience was a lot of fun . Especially since I am a beginner & was nervous to ride a horse . The guides gave me time to practice & get comfortable with my horse . Trail was great to see & the horses were knowledgeable of where to go . Side note , i got to the “musical ranch “ location on the gps but still had to travel about 20 minutes to the actual ranch . Keep that in mind if you’re trying to arrive early to actually leave even sooner ! Other than that my horse Dolly was a great guide along with the actual workers . Can’t wait to come back !
