What you'll do

We will meet at Barra da Tijuca and drive 30 min to the Tijuca National Park, where our experience begins. We park inside the Park beside the Taunay Waterfall, the most famous cascade in the Park with its 35m free fall beauty.
From there we hike 30min to the visitors center and along the way we will discover amazing historical places, like the Mayrink Chapel or magestic trees that create the stunning scenery of the Park.
Once we reach the Visitors Center we will stop for 20 minutes to see their permanent exhibition about the Park and local species of fauna & flora. Then we will hike for 40 minutes to the Soul Waterfall, where we can relax, allowing time to enjoy the place and feel the Rain Forest.
The trail is easy and accesible to all ages, and there are no great difficulties but some bits of humid and slipery soil.
Then we will hike back to where we parked the car, on a slightly different path and will enjoy the Taunay Waterfall. The waterfall has a natural cristal clear pool where we can take off our shoes and deep our feet in its waters, or even swimm if you wish.
To finish the day we will stop at the Canoas Sightseeing, on our way back to the metro Station at Barra da Tijuca.
Other things to note
Please ensure you eat breakfast. Wear suitable footwear— trainers or hiking boots.
Please bring your own medication in case you need (ex: pain killer, aantihistamine, etc)
Snacks are recommended as there is no food available inside the park.

Great "intro" hike to the beautiful Tijuca national forest. The terrain is overall fairly flat with a mixture of asphalt and well maintained hiking paths. Very accessible for people of all ages and ranging physical abilities. Plus Alli is a wonderful host! We learned a lot about the flora and wildlife and really enjoyed the morning.

Nous n’aurions pas pu découvrir seuls le parc naturel de Tijuca. Alessandra a été une excelente guide que nous recommandons. Nous avons passé un excellent moment.

Alessandra is amazing! There is NO way we could have done these hikes without her! We would have gotten lost, or simply never made it to the cool spots. We saw lots of monkeys as well as beautiful waterfalls. She explained tons of history and background to the forest and individual plants. This was one of the highlights of the trip and we were SO VERY glad to have Alessandra guiding us! You won't regret booking with her, but there is a good chance you will regret NOT booking with her! Oh, also, she went above and beyond to help us get some super awesome photo's which we wouldn't have even thought to get!

Alli has a beautiful soul and was a perfect person for this hiking tour! She’s very proud of her culture and the nature of Rio. She shared a lot of stories behind the forests and recommended places for us to go afterwards. We really enjoyed the experience :) the hiking was not challenging but good enough to feel like you worked out!
