What you'll do

We'll start by rolling up our sleeves and picking out some fresh pine for your wedge table. We'll learn how to safely use a variety of power tools, then break out the elbow grease to hand-sand the tables and do some custom-engraving. A cold, locally-brewed Anchor Steam beer is the perfect partner for putting on the final touches. You'll leave with a lovingly-crafted table that will give you permanent bragging rights. This elegant and modern end table is our most popular workshop ever. The wedge table is easy to squeeze into those small spaces, plus it’s the perfect home for a plant, magazines or wine bottles. Whether you're a Bay Area native or visiting for the first time, experience for yourself what makes this place special: creative people in creative spaces adding small pieces of beauty to the world.

I started crafting from wood as a kid and have been embedded in San Francisco's creative maker community for more than 15 years. Nine years ago I founded Wood Thumb, a wood shop where we've designed and sold hundreds of thousands of high-quality wood products across the globe. Our clients have included big-name retailers such as Anthropologie, Williams Sonoma and Urban Outfitters. But my true passion is not production — it's sharing the gift of woodworking with people who don't have the knowledge, tools or belief in themselves to build something with their hands.

Chris was so congenial, patient, and knowledgeable. I loved getting to take home something it was hard to believe I built with my own hands! Awesome feeling, and will definitely be back!

Chris was an A+ instructor and also responsive on Airbnb. I arrived late due to traffic but he was so gracious about it and even let me stay after a bit to not only finish up my piece but also encouraged me to finish it well. Chris's passion for woodworking - and teaching I believe! - was so evident and he was very attentive and responsive to everyone in the class; I wish I got to be there for the intro. I appreciated that he taught in a very accessible manner so that a newbie like me could feel free to ask questions and gain a really solid experience. If you're looking to get your feet wet with woodworking, I highly recommend this course! (Also, parking can be a bit tricky, but circling around a couple times (after 5pm) is typically sufficient to find a space on the same block.)

Christopher was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain and answer all questions. Ended up with an amazing end table I love to show off!

This experience was a lot of fun and I learned a ton. Chris was a really great teacher. He was kind, welcoming, and very knowledgable. I feel like I could really get into woodworking because of Chris's thorough explanations on how to use the tools and how to approach woodworking. This experience was a joy and I recommend it to everyone.

My housemates and I had a fantastic time on this experience with Christopher! I felt like we learned the *how* (e.g., how to build things so they'll last, how to use power tools safely) as well as the *why* for woodworking (e.g., why wood grains run lengthwise in a board instead of widthwise (hint: they're stronger that way!), why certain power tools are designed the way they are). Chris has clearly thought and learned deeply about woodworking. Additionally, throughout the evening, Chris told us about his studio's background, his own background, and the role that woodworking has played in his life. Finally, his passion for woodworking and (I stress) *teaching* woodworking was evident. He was a patient and supportive teacher, and he attended closely to each person's questions and progress. I'd strongly recommend this experience for anyone who is curious about woodworking; you'll walk away with a strong starter understanding of woodworking as well as a sexy sexy(!!) new table.

Chris patiently showed us the various tools that can be used to create a wedge table. He gave us enough instructions but then backed off so that we can experience the process ourselves. For folks like us who messed up the nail gun, he helped us correct our mistakes and showed the angle of the product. I know have bragging rights to a self made product.
