What you'll do
Have you ever wanted to experience a magical day doing the seemingly most ordinary things? It happened to me one day when I was haphazardly exploring the meandering trail connections in Victoria. I was hanging out with a friend doing this together and we ended up coming upon the extensive gardens at the gardening education epicentre, the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific (HCP). And to my surprise nestled within, was a rustic and gourmet eatery, called Charlotte and the Quail (named after the location and the stray cat that calls the garden and restaurant home). As an avid explorer of what’s not-so-obvious, this magical ride and eating experience became something that I wanted to share with others eventually becoming a favourite not only with family and friends, but for visitors to Vancouver Island. For the conscientious eater, Charlotte and the Quail’s food philosophy is steeped in a belief that food can be healthy, nutritious, as well as delicious. Ingredients are sourced locally, and dishes change with the season. Entrees can also be adapted to most food sensitivities if they aren’t already.

When you first get on a bike after a long time, like me, the secret that was obvious as a kid that you took for granted comes rushing back with greater applicability than ever. It is this: There is a freedom of being inside of you that’s always inside of you seeking connection through simple, genuine, and intentional fun. So I started my own bike tour company three years ago to help others connect to their own joie de vivre. And it’s true: You really do never forget how to ride a bike. I’m looking forward to revealing the secrets of my home in Victoria, BC to you.

Where you'll be
We begin by riding away from our downtown meeting spot passing lighthouses, a towering tress, and streams where wild pacific salmon spawn. Halfway through our ride we rest and take in a multitude of beautiful gardens and refuel with a delicious lunch. Heading back into town, you’ll connect with “The Great Trail” - the longest bike route in the world stretching 22,000km across Canada. But you’ll just be riding a teeny, tiny portion of that.
