What you'll do
We will meet at Winchester Station. As we walk to the heart of the historic town, we will speak and learn about this Ancient Capital of England: Winchester. We will stop at the Westgate, a remnant of the fortified walls. Here we will see the Great Hall and talk of: King Arthur, the Domesday Book, and Thomas Hardy.
We will continue down the famous High Street with its' beautiful buildings. Then we will see the marvel that is Winchester Cathedral. Here with will learn about famed author Jane Austen, her connection to Winchester, who is buried in the Cathedral.
After we will stroll the banks of the River Itchen, which inspired the poetry of John Keats. We will see the remains of the Wolvesey Palace, Winchester College, before we finish our Experience at the Jane Austen House.

We had a lovely morning walking around and Bryan was so knowledgable and friendly, making an extra effort with my dog Toby too. Highly recommend this experience and great to have some pictures to remember it by Bryan was funny and very friendly too. We learnt so much about Winchester and it’s historic past, really pleased we did this tour!!

Bryan was really engaging and used all his knowledge of the City to give us a good 'feel' for the historical worth of Winchester whilst incorporating information surrounding the many authors and poets that resided or visited the area. Highly recommended for a proper insight into the City and its history!
