In Iceland Hanna Mia's musical works have been highlighted in media since her composition project where she is wrote a song every day for a year. Apart from her composition work she has been a tour guide for seven years and is used to taking care of visitors in Iceland and making you feel at home. Hanna Mia's other airbnb experience Icelandic Music & Storytelling (https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/464730) has been widely appreciated and we are glad to open up this second, more personal experience for travelers within the airbnb-community.

Where you'll be

The experience is hosted in an Icelandic wooden house right downtown in Reykjavík just by the main church; Hallgrimskirkja. It is one of the oldest private homes still standing in the city. It feels like entering a typical Scandinavian home on the countryside, and yet you are just a few steps from the main street of Laugavegur.

Hanna Mia was an incredible host and was one of my husbands and I’s favorite parts of our honeymoon. Not only did Hanna Mia open up a new time slot for us to come and participate in this experience with her, but she went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated and welcomed throughout the night. We loved meeting everyone else that joined that night and felt like this was a super unique and exciting experience for us to see Iceland like a local. The fish casserole she made was one of our favorite things we ate in Iceland. Also, her music was great and we had a ton of fun listening to the songs she wrote and the stories behind them! All around, we loved this and would absolutely do it again/recommend others do it!

Hanna Mia welcomed us into her lovely, cozy, and idyllic home in the heart of Reykjavik. The house was decorated in fairy lights and upon entry we were met with loving hospitality. She offered a wide variety of snacks, food and drink – both traditionally Icelandic and regular – before beginning her performance in the comfort of her own living room. She performed her own songs, connecting them to personal stories as well as old Icelandic folk tales, making it a beautiful experience of what Icelandic culture means today. She took her time answering all of our questions and encouraged us to be part of the performance, which was great fun! In the end she invited us outside into her backyard where she had prepared traditional Icelandic fermented shark for us to try. She is a wonderful host and an instant friend!
