What you'll do

Salem is a wonderful walking city, best seen on foot. We'll 'walk and talk' throughout our tour, visiting about 20 locations depending on the pace and interest of the group. We'll see sites related to the Salem Witch Trials, the Golden Age of Sail, and the Revolutionary War. As a resident, I can share local color and stories to help bring Salem alive for you. Our tour is largely historical, but I may sprinkle in a legend or two. The tour length can vary based on interaction and pace, but will generally be about 2 1/2 hours. If the time of the tour posted does not work for you, feel free to drop me a note and I will do my best to accommodate your travel plans. I also do a focused tour called Salem's Witch Hysteria of 1692. The dates and times of each tour can be adjusted for your itinerary.
Other things to note
Our walking tour is approx 2 hours and will cover 2 miles. Sidewalks can be uneven. We tour in all weather. Restroom access is very limited for most or all of this tour depending on the hours of operation for the visitor centers. Please arrive ready to begin the tour.

I am a licensed tour guide who has lived in Salem for almost all of my 60 years. Your tour will always be led by me, and I welcome any questions or discussions along the way. I don't wear a costume and I'm not an actress, but I can help you explore our beautiful city, including some neighborhoods you may not see on your own.

Where you'll be

Our tour will visit about 20 spots depending on the interest and pace of our group, including the Joshua Ward House, Ropes Mansion, the Witch House, the Lyceum Building, Chestnut Street, the Pickering House, and the Witch Trials Memorial. We will not enter any buildings; the tour is entirely outdoors but will give you a good overview of places you may wish to explore further on your own.

This tour was super informative! We took the tour on our 3rd day in Salem so we had pretty much walked the whole tour unknowingly in the nights prior, however we had no idea what we were looking at. During the tour we got to learn a lot about the town and beautiful buildings. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone coming to visit!

I LOVED this tour! Knowing a bit about the area and the history I was a little wary of anything that seemed too flashy or over commercialized, so I was thrilled with Beth’s tour! Her knowledge of the history, speculation vs fact, and ability to draw us in with non-witch related information was amazing! As a curious person who is not a “history buff” I was completely on board and would recommend this tour to tourists or people from around New England in a heartbeat.
