My sister Sabrina and I have been running our family bakery for decades.
Our father Gennaro, son of bakers for generations, established the business here in the sixties, after the evacuation of the old town.
We have recently renovated the premises, to make them more functional for the production of our renowned “Pane di Matera” and all other bakery products, but also to welcome people who want to understand our culture and enjoy the taste of Basilicata.

This was an excellent experience. Lovely host, with lots of interesting stories and the bread was to die for. They gave us so much food (and wine) at the end - we got to taste a variety of great focaccia breads too! - that we didn't need lunch after that. Recommended if you want to understand the story of Matera.

We got to know not only the story of Matera bakeries but also the story of Matera and why bred is so important in the area and for the Perronis. Our "guide" was really informativ about everything and we also got a tasting what was like a whole lunch! We could take our own bred to home to Hungary and it was fantasdtic even after 3 days and thousands of kilometers! The only thing we didn't get are the receipts but I understand why they save it so carefully:)
