What you'll do

The hike lasts approximately 3 hours including time to stop to take pics & breaks. We'll hike a loop on some of the best trails with some of the best views in beautiful south Palm Springs. As we hike we'll have amazing views of the desert valley, all the way up to beautiful mountain peaks. Hopefully, we'll see some Peninsular Big Horn Sheep too. We'll stop & see the very unique Bob Hope house & once we reach the top of Smoke Tree Mtn (really a hill at 1,522 ft & the highest point we'll reach) you can grab a rock, make a wish & toss it onto the huge rock pile & also enjoy amazing 360-degree views of the entire surrounding area, perfect for beautiful scenic photos. We'll see the windmills, the Little San Bernardino Mountains that go into the mountain perimeter of Joshua Tree National Park all to the north, the San Jacinto Mountains to the west, Mount San Gorgonio (the tallest mtn in So Cal at 11,501 ft.), Palm Springs and other desert cities. As we head back down we'll see Indian Canyons, ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians that settled in the area 5000 years ago. See my other 2 hikes below. If there's a certain date/time you'd prefer to do one of my hikes contact me. Thanks & I hope to hike with you soon! If you're in Palm Springs & want to do a hike, but don't know where to go or have time to figure it out, I can help you make it very easy. I have found a perfect hike in Palm Springs with incredible views. I also provide you with water, a snack, a backpack & a hiking pole. I'm an avid hiker/trail runner & have been exploring the beautiful trails around Palm Springs for 6 years. I've been lucky enough to see Coyotes, Peninsular Big Horn Sheep, Desert Chipmunks, Desert Iguanas, Jack Rabbits & beautiful desert plants & flowers when I've been out on the trails. There is always something new to see that I never noticed before, the desert is a very special place & better when sharing it with others.

Where you'll be

We'll be hiking in the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument on Native American land near Indian Canyons on some of the best trails in south Palm Springs. You'll be able to enjoy desert plants & cact closeup as we hike & also the amazing views of the surrounding area from the desert valley floor all the way up to spectacular mountain peaks. The endangered Peninsular Big Horn Sheep are back for the winter, maybe we'll see some.
