What you'll do

This is a loop hike & lasts approx. 3 hours including time to take pics & breaks. See the desert up close while exploring some of the best trails in Palm Springs, Ca. As we hike we'll have amazing views of the desert valley below, all the way up to the beautiful mountains that overlook Palm Springs.

We'll stop & see the very unique mid century modern Bob Hope house along the way & once we reach the top of Smoke Tree Mountain at Hope Overlook (a hill at 1,522 ft & the highest point we'll reach) you grab a rock, make a wish & toss it onto the huge rock pile & enjoy amazing 360 degree views of the entire surrounding area, perfect for scenic photos.

We'll see the windmills and Joshua Tree National Park to the north, the San Jacinto Mountains that tower over Palm Springs, Mount San Gorgonio (the tallest mountain in So Cal at 11,503 ft.), Palm Springs & other desert cities of the Coachella Valley. We'll also see Indian Canyons, ancestral home of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians that settled here 5000 years ago.

Depending on the time of year the endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep have been seen on this hike.

If you're in the Palm Springs area & want to hike, but don't know where the trails are or have gear, I can help you make it very easy. I have found some great hikes in & near Palm Springs with beautiful scenic views while you're hiking on pristine desert trails. I also provide each hiker with water, a snack bar & a backpack. I'm an avid hiker/trail runner & have been exploring the beautiful trails around Palm Springs for 7 years. Even though I've hiked on these trails countless times there is always something new to see, the desert is a very special place & better when sharing it with others.

Carlos was a great guide throughout the hike. my watch mark 3.7 miles when we finish. We did it in less than 3 hours. Along the way, he talked a little about the canyons, the mountains, and the different plants of the desert that we found in the hike. He had a backpack with water and a snack for me. He always asked how I felt and if we were at a good pace. He offers breaks if you need them. my experience was great, very informative, and enjoyable. I would join him on my next visit to Palm Springs.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to hike in Palm Springs. Not only was Carlos very knowledgeable and prepared to lead us on our hike, he is also very personable and great company. He let us know how to prepare ahead of time and even carried extra supplies for us regardless. He had so many interesting facts about Palm Springs, the natural surroundings and so much more. I was a solo traveler and this just made my entire trip. I’m so glad Carlos offers this service! I can’t wait to come back and hike with him again.
