About your host

I'm a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, where I received a BA in Writing. My coursework included an in-depth analysis of "The Handmaid's Tale" well as several courses related to cinema critique and examination: set design, lighting, cinematography, screenplay, music/soundtrack, wardrobe. "The Handmaid's Tale", despite the fact that it's more than 30 years old remains just as relevant…

What we’ll do

We're going to have a fun, informative, and hopefully lively discussion related primarily to the screen adaptation (featuring some highlighted clips) of various topics, including: - does your opinion of characters such as Fred, Serena Joy, and Aunt Lydia change or evolve over time, or are they just plain evil? - imagine the world pre-Gilead: 2% fertility rate, toxins in the air and water. What…

What else you should know

This is an experience for die-hard Atwood fans as well as individuals with a more moderate interest in the books. It will be a way to exchange ideas, get answers to pressing questions, and have fun!

What I’ll provide

Snacks
Sweet and savory bites featuring locally-sourced ingredients.
Drinks
Locally produced wine. For those preferring not to drink, a hot or cold drink will be available.

What to bring

Ideally, guests will have seen Seasons 1 -3 of Hulu's "The Handmaid's Tale", and the current episodes of Season 3, as spoilers may be revealed as part of the discussion.

Where you'll be

We'll be having our event at my home in historic (and funky!) Lawrenceville, easily accessible using public transit, bike, or car. Lawrenceville is the hottest neighborhood of Pittsburgh, home to all locally-owned shops, restaurants, movie theatres, microbrews, and more.
