What you'll do

We will begin with a visit to Corcomroe Abbey where I can show you the carvings and share with you knowledge of the plant cures used by 12th Century local monks. After this, we will visit the hidden-away holy well at Uchtmáma in the grounds of three magical early Christian churches. Going on from this we will see some secluded spots near The Burren National Park where the Burren's unique flora grows abundantly between the crags. There, I can share with you how these were used by local people to set broken bones, seal cuts, recover from heart attacks and stave off mental ill-health. Further on, we will visit a magical ringfort and the stunning holy well at Liscannor named in honour of a pagan deity since metamorphosized into our own St Brigid. After a few hours, we will share a light picnic whilst basking in the stunning views over Galway Bay and then return home past the lighthouse along the magical, winding coast road.

Eilís

I'm a professional researcher with 20 years of media experience and a Master's (Hons) of Indigenous Studies. After years of researching for other people's films and publications (EU, BBC, RTE) I've just finished my own book which contains a series of interviews with faith, folk, orthodox healers and conservation farmers from around the Burren as well as heaps of sound research into holy wells, indigenous cures, herbs and early Christianity in the area. I really look forward to sharing my passion for this subject with you and hearing about your lives and journeys in search of wellness. JUST A WEE NOTE: THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST. IF I DON'T RESPOND QUICKLY TO YOUR MESSAGE IT'S JUST THAT I'M AWAY OR OUT OF REACH AS I OFTEN GO ON RETREATS AND WILL RESPOND AS SOON AS I'M BACK ONLINE. I DO CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR CUSTOM. THANKS, EILÍS
