I found the workshop before I arrived in Tokyo but unfortunately there was no open date that suited my travel schedule. I sent a message to the host and she was happy to open another date that suited me and I was so happy about that. When I arrived at the place she showed me the history of the kimono over the years. After that we started the workshop, she let me choose a fabric that was for the kimono or the kimono belt then we nailed the kimono to the canvas. The experience was really special and fun, I really recommend it to anyone who wants to experience something special with an affinity for the art of the kimono.

The highlight of this experience was selecting the obi (kimono belt) fabric. The host had such an incredible collection of patterns that choosing just one was genuinely difficult. Deciding which section of the fabric to feature was just as fun as the crafting itself. As someone Japanese, I especially appreciated learning about some history behind the kimono pieces we worked with. It added a layer of meaning that made the whole experience feel more personal and grounding. The hosts were attentive and jumped in whenever I needed guidance, making the process smooth and enjoyable even for someone without a crafting background. I left with a piece of art that's both beautiful and meaningful. Highly recommend!

I joined this experience through an Airbnb employee promotion program, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. :) The host shared clear and engaging slides about the history of kimono—filled with insights that even I, as a Japanese person, didn’t know. Choosing a kimono design was surprisingly difficult because every pattern was so beautiful, but the process itself was easy to follow and incredibly satisfying once completed. My final piece turned out so pretty that I’m genuinely excited to display it at home. The hosts were friendly, attentive, and created such a welcoming atmosphere throughout. The venue was stylish, new, and conveniently located near a major station in Tokyo, making access very simple. Highly recommended!
