What you'll do

You think new york is the city that never sleeps? They say shanghai doesn’t even sit down. When the night falls, Shanghai is even dreamier with all the lights intertwining with the moon and the stars. The spectacular skyline in Pudong is well worth a look, with the Shanghai World Financial Center, the Shanghai Tower sitting in the clouds, the spaceship-like pink Oriental Pearl Tower and the video projections on the Aurora Plaza. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Huangpu River, you can view a lot of antique and graceful buildings along the Bund. See pointed Gothic roofs, arches from ancient Greece, Baroque columns, and Spanish balconies, displaying the rich flavor of foreign lands, so unique and majestic.

During the tour, you also have a chance to learn the story of the world's most famous jazz bar. From there, cycle to one of the biggest night flea-markets. Then head to Xintiandi and discover its colorful nightlife, wine, cuisines and bands intermingled with western and eastern flavors. You will also bike to a well-known street selling barbecue food. Here you have a chance to taste traditional street food and snacks. Finally, head back to the starting point.
Other things to note
We are in the inner ring area if you stay in The Bund or downtown, take a taxi will cost 20-25CNY & 20mins to here. We have all kinds of bike from 1.2M-2M and plus baby seat. For the sake of fairness, pls come on time. Due to physical attribute if you are Chinese or Asian pls don't book the the tour

I was a tour leader work for Shanghai Jin Yue travel agency for 6 years. Now I'm a trip schedule manager working for Sandian tourist Company. I am also a professional cyclist of Shanghai Cycle Association. After 25 years Living in Shanghai, I realized how difficult it was for visitor to experience and discover the real Shanghai. So we create cycle events which can bringing you in-depth perspective and a close in touch with local life and traditional customs.
by the way, Airbnb gives us the best chance to meet people from all over the world.
So we are here to spread a really Shanghai culture.

Our tour guide, called May, is a very friendly and nice person, speaks fluent English, knows all about Shanghai, and brought us in many different unique places. She has the knowledge to amaze the customers with local history and culture, nice to knows, and makes the correct choice of local food and drinks; I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get to know Shanghai in a short time frame... top!

If you have lots of experience biking in a big city, but you’ve never been to Shanghai and know nothing about Shanghai, then this is the bike tour for you. This tour takes you through the typical hot spots of Shanghai with some notes about the history of each place. There will be a few short breaks and one snack stop at a local chain. We got a Chinese crepe type thing. This is a rigorous biking tour and is absolutely not for young children or anyone who is an inexperienced biker.

I highly recommend to join this tour in your first day staying in Shanghai. This tour takes you all three parts of concessions and you will get to see how Shanghai has been developing. I joined a day with little rain. You should prepare rain coat by yourself. Meeting point is a bit difficult to find out. Also not close to the citycenter. I recommend you to join daytime tour. I joined in a night time tour, so at Japanese concession area, it was so hard to see. In fact the reason why they start from a bit away from the citycenter is to see Japanese concession, however at night (plus rain and freezing day) it’s difficult to see. Other than that it was a great tour to go around!

We loved Mae, our high energy, funny, fearless guide! Biking in Shanghai can be a harrowing experience but our guide showed us how to navigate the city the Shanghai way. We enjoyed the food stop and seeing the city light up at night, but mostly we loved riding with Mae and making a lifetime memory. Highly recommend!

Overall the trip was great! We were hosted by May and not Jack nor Julia. May’s energy was through the roof! She will ensure your safety in the busy traffic and she will try her best to take the best photos for you. Don't expect it to be a food tasting experience, it's more of a city tour. Perfect for your first day/night in Shanghai. It has helped us planned out our itinerary in Shanghai after experiencing this experience hosted by May. Highly recommended!

From me: I LOVED May! She was the best tour guide I have ever had. She knew Shanghainese, Mandarin, and English. Shanghai is actually my hometown, but I didn't know a lot of the history behind the most popular places in the city. May was personable, entertaining, an EXCELLENT storyteller, and quite possibly one of the best people I have ever met. She hands down made my experience so great and I am so happy I was able to visit Shanghai again and take this tour. The entire experience passed by so quickly. To be honest, I was quite nervous about riding bikes in Shanghai, but May made it so safe and easy and I was a confident bike rider who zipped through the streets like a local in no time. May and I are friends now and I feel like I have made a friend for life. Thank you! From my boyfriend: May was our tour guide. She was very enthusiastic and energetic about telling us about her hometown. We felt she had a personal relation with all the places she showed us which made the experience feel very authentic. Her English is very good and there were no issues understanding. We are also very glad we did this at the beginning of our shanghai trip because the tour give us a taste of all the cool parts of shanghai that we later went back to. I highly recommend this for first time shanghai visitors!
