What you'll do

This experience starts with guests learning basic information about our herd of llamas before walking into the pasture and being able to get close, pet, feed, and take pictures with the llamas. After 45 minutes with the llamas we'll go inside and get set up to spend the next 2+ hours weaving. Guests can choose which loom they want to weave on; and which yarns they want to weave with. 15-20 minutes is spent introducing basic vocabulary and practicing basic weaving skills. An hour and a half is spent producing a hand woven item to take home. A 15 minute break each hour is spent outside with the llamas.

Meet your host, Colleen

I have had the privilege to own and care for llamas since 2004 and have been weaving even longer. I love being able to introduce people to our llamas as much as I love giving people the opportunity to weave on professional looms.
My living room houses 14 different looms all warped and ready for novices - or experienced weavers - to produce a hand woven item. I love watching the change in visitors as they discover just how amazing llamas are and as they discover how magical hand weaving is.

We truly enjoyed our time hanging out with the llamas and feeding them snacks. Colleen told us stories about each one of them and about their lives in general on the farm. It's a beautiful location. Bring your boots in case it rains (as it did while we were there), but it didn't matter. We had a great time. Then we were introduced to her many, many, looms! She had everything set up for us and all we had to do was pick a loom with a color combination that we found interesting. Then she explained everything and showed us how to get going. We left with a project we could be proud of. I never felt lost or confused. Colleen (Kelly) was very gracious and knowledgeable about both llamas and weaving!

Lloving the llamas! We had a great time with Kelly (aka Colleen) she was a fantastic host and clearly loves her llamas. We had a lovely afternoon learning about them and learning how to weave. Kelly was a great teacher, clear with directions and patient, and we got to take home a little bit of art with us! A very unique and fun experience, we loved it!

Kelly is a wonderful teacher and llama expert! It was so interesting to learn about llama behavior, history and habitat, and then get to hand feed them. I enjoyed her emphasis on creative exploration rather than worrying about perfecting technique, as this was my first time ever sitting at a loom. I even finished a small table runner! She was generous host and even had snacks for us. Overall a great experience!

My friends and had the most wonderful afternoon with Kelly (Colleen), the llamas and weaving! She was so welcoming, passionate and knowledgable. I didn’t know before what dear sweet creatures Llamas are. It was wonderful to get to spend time with them. And weaving was so fun, Kelly made it easy to understand and to just get going and make something on a loom. Highly recommended!

Colleen (Kelly) and her llama/weaving experience is a MUST. My wife and I had an absolute blast. It was so much fun to be surrounded by llamas, and it was fascinating to learn about raising them and caring for them. The weaving was such a unique experience. Neither my wife or I had done it before, and it was so easy. Kelly has everything you need and she can teach you more than you need to know to make a small item. We made a bookmark and a little wall tapestry, but the process of making it was relaxing and refreshing to get away from the chaos. Highly recommend.
