What you'll do

I will meet you at the Marina Sotavento at km 4 of the hotel zone, I will show you the place to make you feel at home! You will test the equipment to make sure everything is fine and that you are comfortable! I will give you a small theoretical class where we will cover the basics of diving, you will sign a document and in case of being a minor your tutor will have to sign it too! We jump to the pool where we will develop and practice some skills necessary to have fun safely in the dives at sea! We will have a little rest before boarding. The next step is to get on one of 5 possible boats with the most experienced crew in Cancun! In the first dive you will meet MUSA an ideal conservation project to learn the importance of the reef and marine life, the second dive will be in the Manchones reef that is part of the Mesoamerican Barrier, the second largest in the world! You will see countless Caribbean species. At the end we will return to the marina where you can rinse, and continue your vacation! I recommend you bring a camera that can be submerged because you want to document everything!
In order for the experience to be as described, a second cash payment of $ 50 USD is required to cover the costs of space on the ship and taxes, entrance to the marine park and dock use. I will pay this to the ship's supplier

Where you'll be

The hotel / marina Sotavento offers all the services for our comfort as well as a very good restaurant!
MUSA the underwater art museum, one of the most interesting points in the sunken area since 2010 gives us the best example of the development of the reef!
Manchones Reef! Very healthy and full of life, without a doubt my favorite place in Cancun!

Gabriela is an absolute treasure! She is super knowledgeable and very good at explaining the concepts of scuba in both English and Spanish, and at making you feel comfortable and safe in the water. DO THIS EXPERIENCE, you won't regret it!

We did a beginner scuba diving experience with Gabrielle last month. It was really windy the day we dived and the experience was almost cancelled due to weather until the last minute. Another group decided to cancel so we had private instruction for two. We spent an hour or so getting familiar with the equipment, learning the basics and practicing in a pool first. The lesson was packed with info and Gabrielle was very systematic and I felt confident after the pool exercises. She had 6 years of teaching experience and was diving for many years before becoming an instructor. After that we shared a small motor boat (fits about 10 max) with another tour group and went out on the ocean. Gabrielle was very calming and reassuring throughout the experience. I was able to do 2 dives, one at MUSA and another at the Manchones Reef. The first dive we were trying to get used the ocean and keeping ourselves from rising too quickly from the bottom. We saw the VW beetle and other amazing sculptures. Then we got back on the boat and sailed another 10 min or so to do the second dive. It was very windy on the surface so take some dramamine beforehand if you have a weak stomach, as my SO got seasick after the first dive, despite not having had anything to eat all day. I was able to do the second dive at the reef and it was much better than the first dive because once I got the hang of it I was able to relax and enjoy the scenery. I saw so many species of fishes, lobsters and enormous coral reefs. Gabrielle took me farther once she saw I was able to follow along, and I had such an amazing experience that I'd definitely go scuba diving again in the future!

We had so much fun learning with Gabriela! She made things easy to understand and she makes sure that you are safe and in control with how comfortable you are. She speaks English and is very thoughtful in providing both English and Spanish translations when needed. Getting to experience such a once in a lifetime activity like this was definitely made better with her. Getting to see the underwater museum and swimming over the reefs seeing a manta ray, a sea turtle, and so many wonderful little fish is something that I will cherish. We forgot to bring our gopro but it seeing it in real life is way better anyways. One note is just remember to bring motion sickness pills just in case you cant handle the waves too much on the boat. Overall I'd definitely recommend this experience to everyone.
