What you'll do

I will pick you up at your accommodation in Reykjavik/ Keflavik. We will travel through highly volcanic Krysuvik area where will take trip back in time and learn about Iceland's history. We will start were lava started- underground! First step of our trip will be in a lava cave, in fact two caves where we will spend about 1,5 h. In this diverse and colorful scenery we will learn how lava tubes are created. Then we will look for signs of earthquakes by traveling along rough landscape of Kleifravatn lake- “Icelandic lake of monsters” to reach mud pools and steaming grounds of Seltún geothermal area. Next stop is Graenvatn lake with its explosive history. Our final destination will be Reyjkanes volcanic area which is located exactly between continental plates in the Mid Atlantic spreading ridge. Here we will hike for 2 hours trough lava field among strip of volcanoes where you will have chance to take a look in to 15 m depth crater and admire beautiful landscape shaped during “Reykjanes fires” eruption from XII century. Trip is not really challenging, but we will be underground so its not suited for people with claustrophobia. Remember to take proper clothes and good hiking shoes.
Other things to note

My name is Przemek and for more than 20 years I am involved In different kinds of outdoor activities. Geology engineer, adventurer, explorer which loves to travel and meet people. Always looking for opportunity to jump In to the wild. Fly fishing, hiking, caving I love all activities which can bring me closer to nature and to this feeling of …freedom? Since 2015 I am exploring the land of Ice and fire. At 2018 I decided to share my passion with others. I’ve acquired license from Icelandic tourist board and since then I am organizing field trips with dose of geological knowledge.

I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone visiting Iceland! Przemo and JJ took us inside a lava cava and also inside a real volcano! During the rides they told us various stories about geology, their own experiences and also some nice Icelandic legends. We visited a hot spring, where JJ boiled some eggs for us in the hot water. JJ and Przemo were very welcoming and they know so much about volcanoes and the Icelandic landscape. We really feel like we got to know this country better.

100% recommend this experience. The weather wasn't ideal so we had to modify the itinerary slightly but Premmi and JJ made sure I was comfortable and safe the whole time. I learned a lot about the volcanic nature of Iceland and had great conversations and time getting to know them. I would love to go again the next time I visit Iceland.

This was hands down one of the best experiences we had in Iceland, and honestly, one of the best tour guides we've ever had. The experience was great by itself, but what went even farther was having a knowledgeable guide that we could ask all kinds of things and get great answers from. We learned so much about the caves, but also about Iceland in general. We had great conversations, shared a lot of laughs, and held high spirits through the entire day. Our guide took such great care of us and made us feel so welcome that we would recommend this tour to anyone. Thank you for a fantastic experience, and taking the time to show is some really great parts of Iceland. We know who to contact if we decide to visit again, which is very likely.

Amazing tour... it was only my and girlfriend and I, being led by Przemo and JJ around natural sights an hour or two from Reykjavik. The guides are genuine, friendly, and really know their stuff. The tour started off with the exploration of a magma cave; the entrance was blocked by a few feet of snow, so JJ first first had to clear off the entrance. In the meantime Przemo told us about the formation of these caves, and then guided us through all of its channels while JJ was clearing out the exit. They provided the proper serious equipment for treading through the cave, and we knew we were in really good hands; these guys are professional. Later they showed us some secluded spots in nature, including natural sulphur springs and a lake from a great vantage point (everything was frozen over or covered with snow, as it had snowed heavily two days prior; communication with the guides about rescheduling due to this was quick and efficient). We ended the tour by picking up some lobster stew from a small fishing village. They picked us up and dropped us off at our airbnb. Highly recommended!
