What you'll do

This is the ONLY experience like it in Charleston! Undiscovered Charleston culinary & and history tour culminates with a cooking demo, lunch and wine pairing led by acclaimed Charleston Chef Forrest Parker. The only certified chef tour guide, Parker distills 400 years into a 90 minute walking tour followed by an indoor Lowcountry demo and lunch. You'll meet at the Pineapple Fountain at Waterfront Park with parking garages nearby, then Chef Forrest guides you along an undiscovered path exploring the complicated history of the Holy City and the culinary influences that shaped Charleston into one of the world's top food destinations. You'll visit the not-to-be-missed sights, but also the lesser-known & understood locations where, for example, an enslaved chef created a recipe that still helps define local menus. The tour concludes at cozy Bistro A Vin, where you relax while Chef Forrest demonstrates how to prepare the recipes he wrote, interpreting definitive Lowcountry classics, and prepared using techniques he mastered over two decades. You'll take his recipes home with you as his gift to you!

I call upon the culture, history and flavor traditions of South Carolina to create heritage-infused experiences. I am the only certified chef tour-guide in Charleston, and am a South Carolina Chef Ambassador, selected by the governor in 2016. South Carolina is my home state. I began in the culinary arts in Charleston in 1995. Frequently covered by food writers, my recipes and what some call my encyclopedic knowledge of Charleston history, plus my commitment to championing the work of heritage food producers lead to my roles in some of the city's finest restaurant.

We LOVED this tour. Do it on your first day in Charleston! We found ourselves returning to spots we touched upon during the tour. I really appreciated how real Chef was regarding Charleston's West African roots due to the Atlantic Slave Trade. You'll get the real deal with him! Food was AMAZING. Such good southern food.
