About your host

Hello! Hola! Bonjour! My name is David, and I am a full-time professional, award-winning photographer, fine artist, photography instructor, and insatiable vagabond based out of Asheville, North Carolina (living in Brevard, NC). I have been teaching photography workshops, conducting tours, and providing private lessons for over 15 years. I love living in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and I love sharing…

What we’ll do

Waterfall & Nature Photography: Have you ever wondered how photographers make the flow of waterfalls look silky smooth in their photos? Are you visiting the Asheville area, but overwhelmed by the hundreds of different waterfalls that you could visit, and photograph? Let me take the stress out of your nature and creative experience, and show you a choice waterfall location (or more), while teaching…

What else you should know

Generally-speaking, these experiences are "rain or shine", but we'll play it by ear if Mother Nature decides to be uncooperative. Cloudy / overcast days are ideal for waterfall photography, so don't let a lack of sunshine scare you away! There is a two-guest minimum for this tour.

What I’ll provide

Drinks
There is very little walking / hiking during this experience, but guests are encouraged to bring their own water, coffee, etc.
Outdoor gear, Camera, Photography and Other
Camera gear and accessories may be available for rent at a nominal fee (e.g., DSLR camera, lenses, tripod, filters, etc.). Dress for cool weather, with changing, potentially wet, weather conditions.

What to bring

Camera, lenses, filters (polarizing and neutral density of you have them), tripod, macro lens (if you have one), hiking boots / shoes, clothing for possible inclement weather.
Water. Snacks.

Where you'll be

Just southwest of Asheville is a region known as "Land of Waterfalls" (Transylvania County, and the region around the wonderful little city of Brevard, NC). We'll visit one of the most photogenic waterfalls in the region, and get to work (or play, depending on how you look at it!), but leave open options for other locations, as well as a stroll around Brevard.
