Get to know Cuban Countryside

What you'll do

We meet in Havana and grab a private taxi to Soroa, about an hour from the city. Once we arrive, we meet Alexander, a local farmer who tells us all about how he maintains his farm. That's where we pick the fruits and vegetables for our lunch later in the day. Before lunch, we do a walking or horse trail through the farm and up the river. We then go to my house in the countryside, where my mother teaches us how to make an authentic Cuban meal with the fresh ingredients from our farm visit. There is, of course, no better way to end the afternoon than with a game of dominoes while listening to our crazy Cuban family stories.
Other things to note
I´ll arrange for transportation to Soroa, but it´s not included in the price. Transportation costs can range from 35-60CUC per person, depending on the number of guests. We´ll coordinate this separate.

I am from Soroa, so it holds a special place in my heart. My family is still living in the area. I believe that responsible and authentic tourism helps visitors engage with a deeper Cuba and in turn allows for locals to further advance their work. My goal is to help show my community in an eco-friendly way to visitors from far and wide.

Where you'll be

We meet in Havana and head to Soroa, which is known as the "Rainbow of Cuba" for its abundance of trees and flowering plants. You will disconnect for the day but will be back in Havana just in time to experience the city's nightlife.

If you come to Havana, you MUST do this experience! It's a very unique way to see real life in the countryside. You really get to experience the country life for a day! My hosts made me feel like a part of the family throughout the day - memories I will always cherish! It was fun, and food and drinks were delicious! It really couldn't get any better! Thanks Jorge!

A fantastic experience - details have been described by others as well so I'll just reiterate that if you want to take a day trip to the country side, do this and don't waste time driving to Viñales (save that for an overnight, or two, trip).

This tour was an absolute must along with the Havana Tour. They gave a genuine insight into what the true Cuban people are going through aside from the Cuban façade that I feel many tourists experience. They are truly candid and I came away feeling educated and with a new perspective on Cuba. I highly recommend this to anyone that wants to connect with real Cubans and chat about what ever is on your mind. The tour is very relaxed and at your pace, which is nice. Also, the food was amazing especially because much of it came from the farm we just toured. If you are trying to learn about Cuba, the real Cuba that is, then go on this tour!

I am blown away by the thought that was put into this experience. From meeting local farmers; trying natural sugar cane juice; eating a delicious home-cooked meal; engaging in civilized conversations about the difference between our politics and culture, I learned SO much about Cuba and its people. It felt like such an authentic experience, and was the highlight of our trip. They were very open to answering the millions of questions we had. The best part was we were short on cash and learned from Jorge that we could pay for transportation through Airbnb which saved us! We would love to stay in touch with the family and send friends to do any/all experiences with Jorge and his family. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

I highly recommend this experience for those who really want to see more than just Centro y Vieja and really get to know the Cuban countryside and its residents. Jorge was an amazing tour guide, helpfully translating when necessary and providing information on the way to the farm in Soroa. Once there we were welcomed warmly by the families and had a full day drinking sugar cane juice, riding horses and playing dominoes. If you want an authentic experience, definitely book!
