What you'll do

Discover the history of the center with me! We are going to walk a lot around the Historic Centre of Mexico City. This is ideal for your first day in the city!

I have adapted the tour to make it as safe as possible during this time. Our groups are maximum of 8 people. The Historic Center can be crowded, but we'll mostly be in open spaces, and will be as cautious as possible.

We will get to know the history of many of the most famous places such as the Palacio de Bellas Artes, some murals, and the cathedral, but we will also visit less touristy spots like old colonial houses and traditional candy stores, and get to know traditions that are still alive today. Plus, many, many fun facts.

During the tour, we will talk about the conquest, religion, Mexica traditions, migration, catholicism, prostitution, power, wars, poverty, popular religiosity, commerce, architecture, art, politics, and symbols that have made Mexico such a great and vibrant city.

History has always been my passion and I studied it in university, so I know many of the secrets hidden in the buildings and streets of the city and love to make people come closer to its past.

I have lived in this city my entire life, so I can easily make connections between the indigenous, colonial, 19th century, or modern past and the city that we are visiting and looking at.

Also, I love meeting people and traveling! So when I can't go somewhere else, I like to explore my town and walk the city with local friends or foreigners. I really enjoy walking, and what better way to do it than this?

I speak three languages, I'm a middle school and high school teacher, I also have taught from children to elderly groups, so I can explain everything easily and adapt the tour to the wants and needs of the group.

Where you'll be

Basically, we'll walk through the streets of the historical center and some of its most famous buildings. We will visit the surroundings of the Alameda park, the streets of Madero, Moneda and Tacuba, the Zócalo, some places of Av. Pino Suárez, the Santo Domingo Plaza and Tolsa's Plaza.

There is sooo much to see in the city, so I always try to adapt the places we visit to what the group is the most interested in.

Pau was absolutely amazing!! Not only was her knowledge of Mexico City unparalleled, but she went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and accommodated. She changed the time of the tour by 30 mins for us and even worked with us when a payment wouldn’t go through on Airbnb’s end. Just such a friendly and knowledgeable person.

The walking tour with Pau is a great way to get an overview of the history of Mexico City and the historic center. Pau took us to the Aztec Ruins, the Cathedral, the Palacio de Bellas Artes, the Palacio Postal, and many other sites. Pau is well-studied, knowledgeable, and a charismatic storyteller. I appreciated her ability to adapt the tour to our interests and answer any and all trivia questions without batting an eyelash. It was a pleasure chatting about recent events over Agua Frescas at our refreshments pit stop (which was fantastic). Recommend doing this tour if you have a few days to spare in CDMX.
