What you'll do

This is it. The local experience you're looking for; the one owned and run by locals who grew up here with deep roots in this community and an even deeper love and undertsanding for everything Belizean. Our Belize! Mek wi eat!

Let's taste our favorite flavors of Belize with every delicious bite, as we venture off the beaten path through the streets of downtown San Pedro to our favorite “mom and pop” kitchens!

Start off at our go to place for our Belizean snacks and treats, like Ducunu, tamales, tableta and cotobrut along with a local fruit cool me down. Then enjoy Mama Ena's rich Rice and Beans and stewed chicken, the most Belizean dish of them all. Take a peak into how the coconut goodness is made, the traditional way! Wash it all down with a quick lesson in Belizean Rum with one of the oldest local distilleries in Belize. Cross the street to sample the island's very own handcrafted rum creams. Then watch as Ms. Sara makes her cheesy creations, with Belizean twists. Venture off to see what's bubbling on the fogon, one of the few fire hearths that remain on the island. And last but definitely not least, enjoy the island's very own bean to bar chocolate truffles, the food of the maya gods!

At the end of it all, we want you to be happy and full- full of love and appreciation for our history and culture, and of course our food!

Hi! We're Dora and Felipe, two siblings who were born and raised on this beautiful island and third generation San Pedranos. Yes, our dad, grandad and his dad, were born here too. We're related to half the island (haha), and the places we take you to are owned by our favorite people, who either watched us grow up barefoot, or grew up sunkissed with us!

Three years ago, we started the first and only local walking food tour on the island, Belize Food Tours, a crazy idea but we were looking for a way to turn our passion for sharing Belize with others into a way for us to help preserve and highlight our culture and history! And we also can't deny we love a good Salbute, or a hearty Rice & Beans and have never met anyone who doesn't agree. We have 300+ five star reviews on TripAdvisor to prove it. Our team is small but we have big hearts!

Where you'll be

Our food tour begins at the iconic San Pedro Central Park, the heart and soul of the island. Lookout for our guide in bright orange and our very " island-like" socially distant markers! Conch shells! We'll walk to about about 6 different locally owned stops. All these stops are our favorite hole in the walls run by the coolest locals you'll meet. Learn the lay of the land, and what makes this island unique through food!

A MUST DO tour if you are in San Pedro. We had such a fun, knowledgeable tour guide that not only introduced us to Belizean cuisine but also to the culture and history behind the restaurants we visited. The food was delicious and filling. A great value, we left completely full!

This was a great value for the cost! I should have paced myself better because there was so much food. It involved a nice mix of stops such as an ice cream shop, spice shop, rum/cigar store, taco stand, chocolate stop, etc. Very happy we went on it.
