What you'll do

Welcome to an experience I call Sidewalk Safaris. I'll take you on an anthropological expedition of Harlem's fashion scene. You'll learn about the history of black fashion in America, because it all started in Harlem. For years, high fashion brands have come to Harlem’s iconic 125th Street to get inspired. We're going to deep disco dive into this culture, using fashion as our lens. You'll learn how fashion in Harlem has evolved, while always remaining innovative and empowering. We’ll visit the best local boutiques, browsing the racks for the hidden fashion finds that most NYC visitors miss. I’m going to reinvigorate your understanding of Harlem, and empower you with new, exciting, and informed style choices.
Other things to note

Mikaila weaves Harlem history and culture into the fashion tour like a true designer. I learnt so much she was ready to answer any of my questions. A once in a life time experience.

Having a tour with Mikaila was an experience that broadened my understanding of African American culture in NYC. Not only that I learned so much from Mikaila, she helped me to feel like part of the community by recommending me beautiful clothes, even though I was there for the first time!

I am so glad I booked this experience, Mikaila had shown me around like a perfect host and she an her partner had a deep understanding of the place , history and fashion in Harlem , As a foreigner It would have been impossible to understand and explore Harlem Fashion with such in-depth . She had this amazing presentation other iPad to reflect before and after of the iconic fashion trends , architecture and iconic history moments -which was so thoughtful on her behalf.I ended up learning so much and have wider viewpoint on Black heritage. And I did see Andre Talley in Harlem while I was on the tour #nobigdeal

This is hands-down THE BEST tour I've ever taken on airbnb...scratch that...this is the best tour (in general) I've ever taken. Mikaila is incredibly fun but also just an absolute treasure trove of information. You'll never see Harlem or NY or fashion in quite the same way again. Go with her while you can. There's big stuff in this gals' future.
