What you'll do

This walking tour offers a fresh, original tour of downtown St. Louis. You'll explore historic landmarks, strange sculptures, hidden gems, and local watering holes to get the inside scoop on all the city has to offer. While taking in the beautiful architecture, you'll hear memorable stories that you won't hear anywhere else about the strange characters, local legends, and misguided public policies that have made St. Louis the place it is today.

More than 4 million people visit downtown St. Louis each year, but many don’t think twice about the history all around them. Born and raised in St. Louis, I've been infatuated with the history of the city for as long as I can remember. I recently finished a graduate program at Washington University focused on the history of St. Louis and now work for the Missouri Historical Society. I've studied for years to learn what I'll share with you in a little under two hours!

Ryan was a great tour guide! He was very easy to talk too and was very into his history on the city of St. Louis. He really made us love the city more. Ryan has great suggestions on what to do and where to eat. I highly recommend others to tour with him if they have the chance.

Ryan was great and so knowledgeable. The tour was interesting and really added some cool historical background to a weekend in St. Louis. I just wishI could have done it earlier in the weekend- because he gives great ideas about other things to do (but only offering Sunday, the trip was coming to an end). Will definitely be bringing people back on this tour.

What an amazing tour! Ryan had stories for every part and time period of St. Louis. He had fun stories, factual stories, insightful and thought provoking stories and gave a well rounded picture of his city. He talked with everybody and found ways to tailor the tour a little to everyone. Every question we asked, (even if it was unrelated) he was able to speak to. Easily the highlight of our trip!

Would recommend to everyone! Fantastic way to see some of the city and learn from a local’s perspective! Not at all the typical touristy one size fits all. Very personal, great stories, interacted with participants, answered questions! I definite got much more than what I expected for such a great price!

We were running a bit behind (10 minutes) looking for parking and Ryan was very kind and patient upon our arrival. The tour encompassed a deep dive in places in St. Louis that you make look at but have no historical context off. He had great stories and shared experiences that were relevant to lots of situations and facts about history you wouldn't know. He was friendly, answered off beat questions and kept our group smiling and together. For the price point per person my two friends and I really felt this was one of the best values we received during our visit to St. Louis. The conversation was engaging and it was 2 hours packed full of lots of information. We were so pleased, we tipped him after the tour and you should too!
