We are all required to wear a mask all day. I provide masks in case you do not bring one. I take everyone's temperature (including my own) with no-contact thermometer before class. We meet on-site, not at my gallery. Class canceled in case of bad weather, as we paint outdoors. Experiencers must wash hands prior to class, at the lunch break, and at end. Hand sanitizer is recommended during class. You may wear gloves. I set chairs out at location, at recommended distances, and I maintain safe distance. If you feel ill, you MUST CANCEL. All above are Airbnb Experience requirements. In case of non-compliance, I cancel class immediately. Thank you for understanding!
This one-day workshop will get you started on a visual journal! Learn how to choose subjects, create interesting compositions, work with watercolor and drawing media, and sketch on location. We will create journal pages in Acadia National Park, the harbors and boatyards. Your kit is included in the cost of this course, and you will take it with you at the end of the workshop!

I am a professional painter and teacher with many years of experience, and host an on-site gallery. I love guiding folks of all ages in learning -- or relearning -- skills in painting and drawing nature. It is amazing to see the transformation, as students learn mastery of tools and techniques, and take home their own artwork!
I learned from masters -- Max Ginsburg, Sebastian Capella, Don Demers, and the École des Beaux-Arts, ENSAD, Art Students League of New York, and La Jolla Arts. I'm a Finalist in ARC, and have an MA with Distinction in Digital Media from London Met.

I loved this art class with Mary. She was very friendly and welcoming from the beginning and a great communicator. It was easy to learn from her and was able to answer any questions I had. I had no painting experience but she had all the materials and made it seem easy...it was a fun day and very encouraging. I would certainly take another class with her.

Mary has a lot of experience teaching all types of art. I wanted to learn more about watercolor. She carefully gave all of us special tips. Things I hadn't been aware of before the class. This experience was worth the price. Location and tools were great and helpful

I really enjoyed my day painting with Mary. Our class size was small and the other student was much more experienced than I was, but she was able to accommodate her teaching to each of us at our own level. I left feeling encouraged and enthusiastic about continuing to learn to watercolor.
