What you'll do

Join us to learn the basic and simple art of Soap Making the old fashion way, by cooking it! We will start a batch of Hot Process Goat Milk Soap and discuss the difference in cold versus hot process soap making. Throughout this workshop you will see all processes from measuring oils to cutting your own bars of soap to take home! Topics included in this workshops will be: ~Base oils and their beneficial properties for our skin ~Benefits of using goat milk or other additives ~Soap Making Lye... and the lies you've heard about it ~Shelf stability, sanitization and preservation of oil based products ~How to appropriately age soap before use ~You will get a recipe to take home for future soap adventures *Please note: If this experience is not available during a time you would like to take it or if you are staying at our Airbnb, please contact us to request availability. Bill

Coordinator and Founder of Women's Wilderness Workshops and Animal Phat. Christina has worked as an Organic Farmer, Hide Tanner, Veterinary Assistant, Soap Maker, Cheese Maker and Educator since 2003. She co-owns/operates Fun Frolic Farm with her husband in Burnsville NC, where she hosts a variety of workshops on sustainable living, dairy goats, soap and cheese making, traditional hide tanning and much more. Christina has taught and demonstrated for both public and private schools, national parks, state parks, festivals, community colleges, museums and a variety of Primitive Skills events.

Local cheese platter, crackers, fruit, nuts as mid day snack. Please bring any additional lunch needs you may desire.
Drinks
Water, tea and coffee available throughout the day.
Equipment
All equipment is provided for this workshop: oils, essential oils, cutting tools and molds for soap.

Where you'll be

This experience is held at our Airbnb Farm-stay in Burnsville NC! We will be indoors throughout the day for this workshop, though we have a wonderful green garden and farm to enjoy during our breaks.
